The reviews are in. The "Convoy of No Confidence", a so-called grass roots protest organised by disaffected truckie Mick Pattel has been a colossal failure.
With most polls indicating widespread hostility towards the Gillard/Brown socialist government, why did this protest fail so spectacularly?
In large measure because hillbilly protests that rely on talk radio windbags like John MacKenzie and Alan Jones to spread their message don't realise how little credibility these kinds of right-wing hate mongers carry. Thoughtful reporting at the ABC on this "grassroots protest" found a hollow shell.
Pattel advertised his campaign in North Queensland exclusively on the John MacKenzie show. North Queensland had a pathetically small turnout in this already pathetically small protest. It's likely the MacKenzie support actually served as a DISINCENTIVE for most angry voters to participate. People in Cairns are increasingly targeting their anger on the negative, racist, bigoted, and guttural voices dragging our community down. In this MacKenzie is #1 - with a bullet!
