GAVIN KING FORCED TO DEFEND HIS MISOGYNY BY "NAMELESS AND FACELESS BLOGSITE" - US!

The Campell Newman press conference in Cairns today to introduce the new "final team" for the LNP in North Queensland was sidetracked by reporters raising issues surrounding Gavin King's Cairns Post column blaming women who have a drink for their own rapes.

King's lame defence was that the story was based on a Queensland Police press release, and was perfectly sensible. He didn't confirm if this was an excuse he came up with after being caught pounding some honey in the back seat of dad's Holden. King then, funnily, lashed out at the media with claims that this was just a political attack from a "Nameless and Faceless Blog".  Newman stood stony-faced, obviously embarrassed again by the Cairns hillbilly chapter of the LNP.

Thanks for reading, Gavin, and keep talking!  It's your profoundly big mouth that is going to talk you right out of what many thought was a sure win for the LNP in Cairns.  This story has already made the wires, exposing you as the misogynist dolt we all know and hate.  It's already #1 at Google, and pushing the Hillbillywatch Blog into the stratosphere!

Well done "Hillbilly"! Once again gobsnot reveals the pecularities of his woman hating mind.

Eeeeeeeeeew. These types of ugly anti-women comments belong in Saudie Arabia. I wonder why he couldn't bring himself to apply the same looney logic to male rape?

Bob R. said...

King could poke a drunken mate up the arse and then reckon it was the mate's fault for being pissed.

Curly said...

Holy shit you wouldn't want to get maggotted around King. He could pin a tail on you quick smart and walk away saying it wasn't his fault. Is he a psycho?

Terry Vance said...

A lot of us have been wondering the same thing. Rape isn't confined to just women these days. The dude has obvious problems. King's loathing of women has brought the focus to his own interaction with men. Does he feel the same way about a drinking mate who gets pissed? If he got poked himself while pissed, would he blame himself?

Hehehe, the look on Newman's face said it all. I reckon he was thinking Gav's name won't be on any LNP piss up list in future.

King well understands the violence of rape and that in men it represents a demonstration of brute "power". As you men above have pointed out, rape includes male victims, not just women. King would know this too, so his statement in fact reveals the classic sociopathy of contempt for weakness, either in females or males. You may well be correct, Curly.

Liz said...

I'm with Lorrie on this. Rape is an act of aggression and power. King has made a classic admission of sociopathy in revealing not only contempt for weakness but lack of empathy for the victims.
Look at the check lists for sociopaths and King ticks off on quite a few of them.

I've tried to post something in the online comments on The Cairns Post website about this, but my comment hasn't been published.

Does that surprise you Curly?

Mr Watch, would you be so kind as to ring Mr King and the local LNP HQ and ask him to apologise for his misogynistic comments. I'd like to hear what they have to say about this:

Brisbane Rape and Incest Survivors Support Centre social worker Jacqui Hindmarsh described the piece as "horrendous" and "scary".

She said the column could exacerbate the suffering of rape victims and cause some not to report the assault.

"It's columns like this that perpetuate the myths out there ... that if you get drunk, if you have a few too many drinks, you deserve to be raped," she told AAP after reading the column on the newspaper's website.

Ms Hindmarsh said while everyone should be mindful of their personal safety when drinking, the blame for a rape rested entirely with the men who committed the crime, not with their victims.

"No matter how much someone drinks they should never be raped, that responsibility belongs with the men who choose to do that," she said.

King was again on 4CA with rug nut this morning. Is there no "equal time" requirement of the media, or is MacKenzie going to promote this guy every week until the election?

Bob R. said...

rugnut will probably want "cash for comment" from any of the other candidates.

Google "Gavin King" and Cairns, and the first set of results are all about his rapist-excuses and the Hillbilly Blog. Good on' ya, mate!

You have to wonder at the likes of men like Gavin King who make these outrageous statements. I can't help but wonder if he hasn't perpetrated sexual assault against someone who was inebriated, himself, and then walked off guilt-free by using his own reasoning, that it was "their fault". No morally decent man would ever make such a statement!

ROFL Terry Vance. If gobsnot got poked himself while pissed, would he blame himself? ROFL ROFL My guess is he would be screaming blue murder down at the nearest cop shop as soon as he sobered up, found his pants down and had a sore arse.

King's Wikipedia page needs updating, any editors here?

Well I dunno how many times Ive been maggotted as a mank and no self-respecting lucious voluptuous female rapist has ever taken advantage of me in my pathetic state. I'm still dreamin-

King's photo etc are still on The Cairns Post online comments site and is linked to his "blog". I thought he had "resigned" from The Cairns Post to campaign??? Isn't he in breach of the Electoral Act with free advertising?

Terry Vance and Bob R., despite your vulgarity, you have given me the best laugh I have had in days. I agree, if it ever happened to Gav himself, whether losing his faculties through booze or medication, he wouldn't like being blamed. As someone said above, rape is aggression and assault and the perpetrator is fully to blame for their actions. Gavin hasn't just revealed lack of empathy and misogynism, he has also revealed a very confused sense of right and wrong. This fact alarms me greatly. He is not the man I want to see in Parliament.

There is nothing in the comments online section of The Cairns Post about this, but it is obvious that it has aroused a lot of interest in the community. Looks like the compost is doing its dirty best to promote Gav all the way.

Siobhan, you put it very succinctly - King has revealed a "very confused sense of right and wrong." I agree with you, definitely isn't a man I want to see elected to Parliament either.

Liz said...

Well said. King has a very confused sense of right and wrong. I get the impression matters are only wrong if they disadvantage him personally, and right if they disadvantage others.
He has amply demonstrated he is unable to empathise and this fact in particular will always corrupt his judgement.

King has built his career by publicly attacking people, but as his RESPONSE to this issue again demonstrates he is thin skinned. He can dish it out but can't take it. And his first defense is to always attack those who dare to criticize him rather than address the substance of the criticism. Be ready to see him do this all the time.

Interesting to read in todays Cairns Post that Brisbane is sending up a special police squad to deal with a spike in rape crimes in the city. Maybe Gav can go and pass on his considerable knowledge to the squad? Perhaps he can educate them on the amount of alcohol a man can give his male or female partner before he can be excused for rape. He can explain that if his drinking mate gets pissed before he does, then it is really the mate's fault if Gav decides to give him a good root. I reckon the Rape Squad will be really, really really impressed he is an endorsed LNP candidate.

King's comments haven't gone down very well amongst those of us coppers who have discussed his column. Rape is a criminal offence and there is no excuse for it. The perpetrator knows what he is doing. Rape is a serious crime in Cairns and district and comments like King's do nothing to help the problem. I'm personally disgusted with his lack of empathy and morality.

Re the Cairns Post still promoting him - they're sleazier than Gobshite himself. They'll provide him with free publicity and flattering coverage all the way to the polls.

No fan of Cairns Post said...

What is scandalous is that The Cairns Post hasn't ALLOWED any comments on this issue! With rape now such a serious issue here that a special squad has to be sent from Brisbane, you would think the newspaper would encourage discussion and commentary on what King said. While I cringe at the vulgar and coarse comments provided above, I take the point that rape is now an issue involving male victims.

Buzz said...

Yes Anonymous above. The Cairns Post is already off to a good start on shamelessly promoting King. Once elected of course, he will receive the exact same cosy, supportive treatment Entsch is receiving.

It is very revealing that King does not mention male victims in his colum. At 32 years of age you would think he has kept in touch with the changing society. He sounds more and more like a male straight out of the dinosaur age I think.

Did I hear correctly just then in tonight's channel 7 news that King said he based his article on police comments when he made his "public apology" today. I would be interested to see the boys in blue have to say about that.

King consistently reveals hostility towards women. Of course this is disturbing on a personal level, but this man is hoping to get into Parliament. With his obvious deep seated misogynism, can he represent women impartially in Parliament? Can he effectively represent women's issues? As a female who has lobbied for change over the years, I am already feeling very uncomfortable about taking a deputation of women in to see him about something, knowing in advance he will be charming to our faces, yet scathing and critical behind our backs and most likely unwilling to take up our issues.

I wonder if The Cairns Post would be avoiding this, if a Labor candidate made the same awful statement? You can bet it would be spread all over the paper and with a chastising editorial as well.

Buzz said...

Jeeeeeeezuz blardy H. Christ allright you can just imagine if Kirsten Lessina wrote what King did what the bloody Cairns Post would do to her. It would be front page banner headlines.

I recall an article written by king about circumcision, which was a poor attempt at humour. he ended the story saying he would rather vote for Val Schier than be circumcised himself. Why would somebody with supposed mental stability make this comparison, sad lad in my opinion.
How can his mob of supporters/selectors, mckenzie, cochrane, quick family, trout, entsch, be behind this fella, are they of equal mentality?
Then king accuses labor of gutter tactics in regard to his rape story, you created the gutter king so don't accuse others.

People have been asking "What causes misogyny?" Well, I am no expert and can only relate what information there is:-

Childhood messages can play a powerful role in shaping our ideas and opinions. Having a misogynistic, male chauvinist father who resents womens liberation, conversely having a domineering, indifferent mother, or parents who favour a female sibling, can leave a lasting bitterness. Moving onto adolescence, an impressionable boy may suffer at the hands of callous female teens, or experience a series of amorous rejections. Moving into adulthood, there may be experiences where good looking females are favoured (whether actual or perceived) by lecturers or bosses etc. Finally, in the matters of the heart, there may be unrequitted love or an angst ridden, failed relationship leaving unresolved anger.
Its easy to say "Get over it and move on" however we are all individuals and grow and develop at our own pace in life. For some individuals, whatever trauma they have experienced may be so great, they may never "get over it."
These then are some of the reasons why this attitude surfaces in our society.

Yeah well ta for that free and unasked for analysis Liz, brought tears to me eyes it did. In fact I got a soggy old hanky here and my hearts bleeding away like billyo. I wouldn't give a shit what his mother or father or girlfiend did eons ago. It's what he does now that counts.

Seriously I feel so sorry For Gavin King, He obviously has a number of issues to deal with and now standing for the seat of LNP... How can one hold a power of position, when obviously the power has already gone to this mans head.. As a survivor of Rape, It is a difficult subject to get any survivor to deal with let alone report to authorities - I am disgusted to think this man is to represent us...????

Bob R. said...

I wouldn't feel too sorry for the bastard Leanne. If he woke up hung over one morning and found his arse split and bleeding and had fuzzy recollections of an over friendly mate, he'd be down the cop shop like a shot squealing for justice.

Siobhan said...

Leanne, take no notice of what Bryan Law has been writing on facebook. He is a strong supporter of Gavin King's and any criticism of King brings Bryan out in a rage.

Anonymous said...

Christ Leanne leave your tender feelings for the victims of rape, don't waste anything on King. He doesn't have an empathic bone in his miserable self-serving, self-promoting body.
