MARTIN TENNI - IN HIS OWN WORDS. . . .

At 11:45AM, today's 4CA topic of the day was neatly summed up in a screaming psycho rant by former Joh minister Martin Tenni:

"As far as I'm concerned, I'm an aboriginal.  I'm a WHITE aboriginal. . . My family came here in the late 1800's.  I'm sick of all these BLACK aboriginals who just take, take take.  These BLACK aboriginals have done very, very little for this country".

This old codger used to scream in State Parliament how he was vehemently opposed to socialism. Then last year when Anna decided to sell Queensland Rail, this same demented fool starts bellowing about how he supports retention of State assets. Tenni is a total retard who doesn't even understand the meaning of socialism. He was kicked out, expelled from the Mareeba Branch of the ALP back in the late 1950s because of his extreme views and contempt of the aboriginal peoples of Mareeba. This human turd was probably a member of the Mareeba Ku Klux Klan.

Yeah Tenni you racist fuckwit. Your people arrived here in the 1800s and then set about either killing or putting aboriginal people on reserves, denying them equality. Aboriginal people didn't have any measure of EQUALITY to education, employment etc until the referendum of 1967 thanks to people like you. So while YOUR people had almost 200 years to be educated, earn wealth and pass it down through inheritance, the aboriginal people had everything taken from them. It is only in recent times have aboriginal people been able to earn income, buy houses and amass estates for their children. But hey Tenni, you don't think about this do you?

Someone might want to remind Tenni that white aboriginals have been here less than 250 years and managed to destroy more that 40,000 years of black aboriginal peaceful existence with the land.
On the other hand white aboriginals seem to be hell bent on rapidly destroying everything around us and then selling it to someone else!

Tenni got the shits with the old Mareeba Branch of the ALP because they wouldn't endorse him as State Candidate during one election. I think that was when Eddie Wallis Smith won the pre-selection. Tenni reckoned it should have been him, and couldn't understand how disliked he was by ALP branch members. Old timers told me he was arrogant, cocky and swaggered into branch meetings fully believing he would automatically get endorsement. He carried on like a pork chop apparently when he didn't get that endorsement, and then went on to join the National Party and the rest is history. He doesn't have any ideological philosophy as he has demonstrated over the years except a belief in his own superiority and importance.
Sad.

Tenni was one of the strongest supporters of "free market economics" and "globalism" while a Member of the Joh Bjelke-Petersent Government. (See www.queenslandspeaks.com.au )
He was only given a portfolio by Joh after Joh sacked Mike Ahern and Bill Gunn etc. when these National Party men called in the Fitzgerald Inquiry to deal with crime in Queensland. (Joh was overseas when Bill Gunn decided to bring in Fitzgerald. When Joh got back to Qld, he threw a micket fit and sacked all the National Party Ministers who supported Gunn.) When the disgraced Don Lane squealed on Martin and some of his dodgeY dealings, Tenni resigned claiming "pressures of the Fitzgerald Inquiry" and citing ill health. This was back in 1989. He has thus enjoyed "ill health" for over 20 years.

I was once told that in front of a public meeting he said, "Aboriginals need more rights...... and lefts. And uppercuts."

Raj in Edmonton said...

So Martin's cleared up the issue about rights - all "White" aboriginals and all "Black" aboriginals are equal. So where does that leave the non-aboriginal immigrants? What rights to we get? Or is it like as I've suspected, that we're here only to work hard, pay taxes, and make life easier for the "aboriginals"?

Curly said...

Tenni wouldn't give a shit about you Raj. I recall he was rude to a Pakistani Doctor in Mareeba, a Dr Sinnathamby. Tenni is a relic from the times of Rudyard "Take up the White Man's Burden" Kipling, although you would never hear him say "You're a better man than I, Gunga Din!" By the way, Bob R. I just spoke with an old timer in Mareeba on the phone and he said he thinks that ALP pre-selection was the one won by Jack Bethel, not Eddie Wallis Smith.
Yeah Tenni's feelings towards the aboriginal people are revolting. When I was a lad living there in the 1960s, the aboriginal peoples were all lumped into living at the "Reserve" which was a ramshackle bunch of hovels right alongside the showgrounds, just off Jasper Street. They were bloody hovels, with no electricity, and one or two taps of water between them all. The buildings were constructed mostly of corrugated iron sheets and had hard dirt floors. There were no refrigerators and only broken down old wood fired stoves. How I know this, is because I used to visit my mate there, Johnny Archer. Few aboriginal kids went to school. Most just did not get an education.
Tenni would have known all this, would know how badly the aboriginal peoples were treated in his own hometown, but still he rants against them. Fucken racist arsehole!

I'm also old enough to remember when no-one gave jobs to aboriginal people and there were hardly any aboriginal or islander kids at school throughout my entire schooling. Martin Tenni must have major memory problems! The numbers of aboriginal kids receiving schooling here in the Far North only increased in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

so you useless half casts and lower casts want to have a go at martin Tenni, well getof your lazy arse and stop degrading the name Aborigine as the ridgy dig are fair dinkem and aprecate what has been done for them even though i feel there can be more done, but you bloody half casts are giving the true bloods a bad name, and you know it, fuck off and be true.

Yeah Tenni would also have known about the white bastards who slunk up to the aboriginal reserve in Mareeba when the men were away working on cattle stations, (often for a pittance in wages) and who interfered with the women and girls left there without male protection. Yeah white men like to forget this, like fucken Andrew Bolt who thinks he has the right to say light skinned aboriginal people are not aboriginal. Bolt also forgets that very few white men ever claimed their half caste kids. They just pissed off when their aboriginal girlfriend said she was pregnant. Oh and not forgetting those poor women who were raped. Pisses me right off when we get racist mongrels like Bolt and Tenni who are so wrapped up in white supremacy they ignore Australia's shameful treatment of its indigenous people.

Geez Anonymous above, that spelling and grammar looks awfully familiar to me. Now who was it we noted had a distinctive case of dysgraphia?? Hmm? As well as xenophobia.

Martin Tenni, here after known as the Hillbilly Fake-Migaloo-Murri of Brinsmead.

Remind me again what he ever did to progress Queensland apart from some jobs created by the taxpayer paid billboards erected to remind us he was the local member.

Hansard should be brought to account and erase anything he ever said because it was crap (not from the respectable Latin word 'crap' derived from the word 'crapulus' which means hungover, but the English word derived from the name of the inventor or the flush toilet Thomas Crapper - because anything Tenni said should have exited the same way.

I though production of those big black glasses ended when The Two Ronnie's finished. Now it's goodnight from me and goodnight from him. Forever.

Second Anonymous, you crack me up. Migaloo Murri indeed. The only thing I ever heard about Martin Tenni was that he was a racist spiv. Know I know first-hand. Maybe we should put him in the ring with Terry O'Shane so he knows what a Left really is.

Buzz, you are right. Lots of white men never wanted anything to do with their kids and so the aboriginal mother was left to raise the baby amongst her own people. White people for a long time did not believe in mixed marriages. Lots of half caste kids were taken away from their aboriginal mothers like the stolen generation, but many were raised by aboriginal families. So then this white mongrel Andrew Bolt gets up and writes that several aboriginal people are not aboriginal because they are very light skinned. Well most of those people were brought up in aboriginal communities by their aboriginal relatives NOT by their white fathers and white families. So of course they identify as aboriginal people. How could they identify as white when the whites rejected them?

At least former Joh minister Hon. Martin Tenni (aka fake Migaloo-Murri) is no longer in parliament, unlike former Joh minister Hon. Bob katter.

Ps. The lower-case 'katter' is a deliberate lack of respect.

MacKenzie should move to a radio station in Kennedy heartland where he would be at home, adored and feted by all.

I do not as a rule post in this blog, however I feel some comments above need backing up. Sue M. and Buzz above, you are right. Mixed marriages did not gain social acceptance here in the Far North until well into the 1970s. It is something that young people of today find hard to believe, because our society has (thankfully) changed so much. However right up until the 1970s, people in mixed marriages were ostracized and shunned and their mixed race children had it tough. Here in Cairns, no matter what social class you were, you faced public hostility and condemnation if you dared have a relationship with a non-white. A lot of people had to leave Cairns so that they and their children could have a better life. Many whites simply excommunicated their sons and daughters if they married non-whites and they never acknowledged their mixed race grandchildren. These hard, racist attitudes caused an awful lot of pain and anguish, particularly as Buzz and Sue M. have pointed out, to the mixed-race child denied by their white relatives. The likes of Andrew Bolt choose not to acknowledge the prejudices and hard attitudes of our recent past and the direct consequences of those attitudes.

Tenni said..."the blacks have done very very little for this country."
When I was school teaching in the 1970s, I decided to get my Grade 7 class to discuss and anylse the key drivers which generated the development of civilisation in Europe and whether these same drivers were in Australia. I did this after another well known politician at the time spoke publicly about how aboriginal people "had developed nothing in the country" before white arrival. I reasoned that my twelve year olds had enough knowledge of history and culture to be able to make a fair analysis.
Well, when I first asked the class of twelve year olds, there was a stunned silence, awkward shuffling, frowns of concentration and some children looked decidedly hostile.
Finally, my top boy put his hand up. "Horses!" he said, "the aboriginal people did not have horses or oxen or cattle, so they didn't have to invent the wheel."
Then the next one said, "Because they had no animal they could ride to places, they did not need to grow crops for those animals...".
Another one said, "Because they did not have winters like they have in Europe, they did not have to grow crops and food for their animals and themselves for the winter months.."
As the lesson progressed, almost the entire class became caught up quite excitedly in the exercise in thinking and logic. I filled up the blackboards and at the end of the lesson I think most children understood why our cultures differed so greatly. I went home feeling quite satisfied with myself, but was called into Headmaster's office the following day. "I've had complaints from some parents," he said.
We had a good discussion and Headmaster said whilst he agreed with the fact that it was a worthwhile exercise, he thought that perhaps the topic was a little "too sensitive" for primary school children who would not be able to deal with all the emotions such discussions caused.

Bus. Op. said...

Sounds like it was a good exercise in rational thinking Mrs Northy and it doesnt surprise me that 12 year olds could arrive at some understandings as to why white and black cultures developed differently. Pity about Martin Tenni and his ignorance.
