MACKENZIE SET TO RETIRE AFTER COUNCIL AND STATE ELECTIONS, CLAIMS COMMUNITY DOESN'T APPRECIATE HIM

In what many onlookers claimed was an outburst fuelled by too much fire water, Cueball MacKenzie was reportedly in a late night rant in a Grafton Street restaurant after the Cairns Council approved the Entertainment Precinct on Wednesday.

Cueball was heard to claim "lefties, ratbags, and mexicans" were now in control of Cairns, and that even "the Cairns Post was being run by these blow-ins."

MacKenzie was heard threatening to retire after next year's Queensland and Local Government elections, while at the same time lamenting that "everyday blokes like him aren't appreciated by the community any longer".

One can dream. . .

ADDITIONAL INFO -
Another reader who witnessed the MacKenzie meltdown has been told that management of 4CA and Prime Radio have promised Gavin King the MacKenzie show spot should his tilt at member of Cairns be unsuccessful.  King was apparently unwilling to leave the Newscorp womb without a fallback position.  No word on if MacKenzie was ever consulted on this plan.

Hooray, can't wait until he pisses off into the sunset.

Well I can't see him going all that soon. MacKenzie is all about MacKenzie. He is full of himself. He'll stay there while he continues to get paid the grand salary he has grown to love and to need. Unless the station decides to move hime out of the Morning Show and get some one with a better appeal to customers($$$'s)then I expect he'll stay where he is and continue to deliver the crap that he thinks the majority of Cairns love to hear. The dollars he earns for his radio station is what keeps him in a job. I think the Radio Station could ear a lot more with a better host but you need to convince the boys that control the purse strings in Radio he is a lost cause. I'd just love it if they dispensed with him.

And King of course is all about King. He used his position in The Cairns Post to promote himself for years, as well as corrupting community debates to his own agenda. Of course he wouldn't "leave" the Cairns Post without something to fall back on. His past history reveals he isn't above using people for his own means and ruthlessly discarding them when they are of no use to him. His comments on rape and women reveal a real problem in understanding right from wrong. Mackenzie may have taken him on as a 'prentice, but I predict the 'prentice will kick the "master" up the arse when he is ready. That is the nature of this beast.

rugnut is well past his "use by" date. The station managers I reckon might well decide to go with a younger face. Yeah I've been wondering about the difference between the two, rugnut and gobsnot. They're not quite made in the same mould. Theyre both hungry for power and believe in their own superiority. Both would be control freaks and are bombastic bastards when people disagree with them. Neither show much genuine compassion or empathy for the under dogs and both are one eyed bigots. Both use and manipulate people for their own ends. I reckon if Mackenzie thought gobsnot was plotting against him to take his job,(and I reckon he would be) it would be interesting to see who outmanoeuvres the other and comes up the winner. These types of bastards believe in the principle of "winner take all", "take no prisoners" etc. In fact gobsnot used to boast about that. As someone in here before has pointed out, these are characteristics of sociopaths.

Wouldn't surprise me athena if gobsnot hasn't been ingratiating himself with the station managers, carrying tales etc in order to put his arse in rugnuts chair.

This Blog is playing out like a thriller movie - I love it.

Will Gobsnot usurp Cueballs reign?

Will Cueball realise the dastardly truth and retaliate?

Will Gobsnot have a crisis of conscience realising that if elected (most likely in government) he will have to be accountable and sell the party line, always defending the government - or will he choose the safe haven of 4CA where he does not have to be accountable, can say what he likes, is not controlled by the party machine that tells him what to say. Does not have to spend time in Brisbane for Parliament and Committees. Gets to stay at home and get paid more than a politician and does not have the worry and stress of an election every year?

Villa Romana is probably keeping a seat warm for him.

A seat with more perks than the seat of Cairns.

A right royal pair of "snakes in suits" hey? Be anyone's guess then as to who would win in a stoush.

My guess is while they are both patting each other on the back with one hand, the other hand holds a knife, ready and poised. We can only hope they stab each other fatally at the same time........

Second Anonymous, I doubt gobsnot has this thing called "conscience".

Bus. Op. said...

gobsnot if elected to Parliament (and God help us if he is) will do another fatboy Entsch. Sit on his arse, pick up the phone to The Cairns Post or rugnut and blame everything and anything on a Labor Government wherever it may be. Entsch has been very successful in confusing people about the role of a parliamentarian. Whereas, he is SUPPOSED to represent his constituents needs in Parliament and lobby for them, Entsch only attacks, not lobbies. King will be excellent at this as well.

The Cairns Post and rugnut are manufacturing a "crisis" for King to charge into like a white knight and make all sorts of outrageous claims and promises. Watch how the "dredging" and "cruise shipping" issue is being slowly built up, more and more. All of it is one sided, and nothing being written about the reasons why the big liners stopped visiting, environmental factors etc.

Bus. Op. said...

Alert, we already get 200 cruise ships a year into the port of Cairns. You are right however, this issue of "dredging" and "ports land" is being blown up by certain people in order to try and scuttle the Entertainment Precinct. King has alteady stated that if an LNP Government was elected, and no contracts were signed for the Entertainment Precinct, then the LNP Government would look at ANOTHER SITE. Just whose site will it be?? I said right at the very beginning of this whole debacle that I believed some covert deals have been made by the previous Council on certain land sites.

Curly Joe said...

I reckon your right Bus. Op. There's some funny business going on behind all of this and the dredging thing is a smokescreen. Byrne is the one behind it all, pushing for another site for the CEP. You got to wonder "WHY?" Its been building up to hysterical pitch and I reckon the whole schmozzle isn't over yet. Linda Cooper has thrown another spanner into the works but I reckon the group behind the funny business will find other means to get what they want.

Be real funny if 4CA management and King are in a covert plot to oust cueball if King's tilt at parliament fails. Id laugh my guts out. Cant wait to see if its true.

"200 cruise ships a year into the port of Cairns"???

More like 20, I'd estimate.

Bus.Op. said...

Tony Hillier...if you look into the Ports North website, you will find, under PORT OF CAIRNS...
"Cairns Seaport is Australia's busiest cruise port with over 200 international and domestic cruise ship visits a year."

Tony Hillier said...

Bus.Op., according to the official schedule, 35 international cruise ships are due to berth in Cairns in 2012, which is a good deal closer to my approximation. 33 docked this year. The reason for the push for dredging is because of the big international cruise ships, n'est-ce pas?

Why would they have "200" on their website then?

Anonymous said...

Hopefully the two of them will fatally stab each other simultaneously and station management gives the show to Locco.

Terry P said...

"Why would they have "200" on their website then?" Could it be PR spin. Would a 60 foot luxury cruise yacht be regarded as a 'cruise ship'? They seem to make it in OK already without dredging.

Back to the subject and that is the retirement of rugnut. Hallelujah! The man has been a dead hand over Cairns for decades, with his hatred of blacks, women, juveniles, ethnbic minorities, teenagers, conservationists, unions, the ALP, in fact everyone and everything which doesn't agree with his narrow minded 1950s mindset. I get so bloody embarrassed listening to his rants and rave on the radio, wondering what the hell do tourists and visitors think when they hear him. Had to laugh though when talking once with an 80 year old woman who had moved to Cairns from Melbourne to live with her son and daughter. She told me, "I turned on the radio to radio 4CA and heard this man called John Mackenzie with his talk-back show. After listening for about fifteen minutes, I thought, "What a dick head!" and switched it off. I have never listened to him again!"

Nanna Kay said...

I agree with Dina. Mackenzie does have a 1950s mindset, as evidenced by his antiquated linguistics. You don't hear him say for example, "That's cool!" or speaking techno. He just doesn't connect with Generation X or Y, only with the ageing boomers and older. His time of influence is definitely on the decline. I would think that the station management are most likely considering replacing him with a younger version.

Anonymous said...

yeah they have to piss rugnut off hey we cant stand him

Bob R. said...

It's his complete negativity and hatred of the world at large which gets to me. Whenever an issue comes up, Mackenzie takes the divisive stance, instead of welcoming debate from all sides and facilitating the debate. He does nothing to help form a cohesive community, but deliberately divides the community and creates warring factions. Like all shock jocks he is a hate mongerer.
I will be relieved frankly, to see him go. I just hope to GOD I don't end up anywhere in a retirement village with him.

Anonymous said...

Oh please man upstairs or woman or 4CA station management or whoever, please hear my prayer. PISS OFF MACKENZIE.

ECKERS said...

Christ Bob R imagine Mackenzie in a retirement village. Within a week he'd have the oldies attacking each other with their zimmer frames and walking sticks. It'd be a war zone after a month.

Neil said...

One of the comments above is spot on. Both cueball and King are each holding a knife behind the others back while presenting a "best of mates" face to the world. King is Mackenzie's ambitious competitor now, and cueball would know it. Another point raised above is that Mackenzie is sounding increasingly ancient and out of touch, so of course the station managers would be looking for a younger person.
It will be interesting to see what happens.

Anonymous said...

Agreed, ECKERS. Mackenzie has a predilection for gossip and innuendo and doesn't hesitate to fill in the gaps himself. Out in a retirement village full of people living in a fish bowl environment, he will have plenty of scope to pit people against each other.

Anonymous said...

It's a no brainer. cueball is increasingly out of touch with the changing society, and engaging with a steadily shrinking audience in his talkback show. He is past his use by date. King would not have resigned from The CAIRNS Post without having a job to go to. The writing is on the wall.

greg said...

Ultimately station management will make a decision based upon $$$$$$ I imagine. So who will bring in the most advertising dollars? I imagine gobsnot is out there soliciting advertisers, networking, cosying and fawning away.

Dina said...

Mackenzie had two political objectives these past two years with his talk-back show. First, was to put pressure on the Mayor Val Schier forcing her to resign. He failed in this objective largely because the Mayor, surprisingly, demonstrated a rare toughness. Moreover, solely because of the length of time his hate campaign has run, it has started to back-fire. Mackenzie has overdone his campaign. Second, he wanted to either kill the idea of an Entertainment Precinct or have it built on another site (the suspicion is Kev Byrne is behind this). However he has failed on this too.
These are clear cut failures and hard evidence his "influence" is not as great as he believes.

Bob R. Mackenzaie has NEVER to my knowledge facilitated a rational debate on any subject, inviting participants from both sides to present their points of view for discussion and intelligent debate. He ruthlessly appeals to the basest instinct of his listeners, ie racism, misognism etc and deliberately inflames issues into points of confrontation and rancour.

Anonymous said...

There isn't any doubt whatsoever in my mind that King intends to oust Mackenzie if he fails in his bid to become an MP. Using and abusing people to achieve his ends, whoever they are, is Kings modus operandi. I would like to see someone digging into his background a bit more. There would be a trail of used and probably angry people strung out behind him. His approach to women is one of general contempt, no matter how he attempts to portray the family man image the LNP demand of their candidates. I would be pretty certain that if someone delved into King's personal life, going back some years, they would find some interesting stories particularly regarding women.

Cueball was quite subdued today with only a few rantings. Has been warned about his behaviour from 'upstairs'?
