EVERYTHING CAIRNS VOTERS NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE UNITY TEAM AND THEIR MAYORAL CANDIDATE BOB "BUTCH" MANNING

In 2008, Cairns voters roundly rejected Kevin Byrne and the Unity Team.  Residents around the city were tired of the secrecy, the lack of consultation, the abusive attitude towards the citizens, and other serious flaws.  Monuments of the developer abuse are dotted all around the Cairns region - from the "prison tower unit blocks" constructed by Tom Hedley, to the ghetto apartment buildings built by Udo Jattke in Woree and Clifton Beach.  This is what the Unity Team represents.

The Unity Team has fielded candidates this year, including Bob Manning for Mayor. While the Unity Team leader Kevin Byrne is busy filling his pockets with mining company money in PNG, he's still acting as one of the "black hands" pushing this same agenda back on the Cairns community.

Rivetting stuff Hillbilly! You've outdone yourself this time. Bloody excellent piece of journalism. Put this on your CV and you won't have any worries getting a job anywhere mate with Murdoch.

Can't see the video Hillbilly. It's telling me it's private.

You're not wrong bogan. In fact it could even be a bit of information overload to be frank.

Cant see the video?

Does anyone realize how old Masthead Manning is? If he get elected he will be over 70 before his term finishes. Voting for him is like taking a giant leap into the past.

I couldn't see the video last night either, but it's working just fine this AM. Funny if it weren't so true. . .it's a terrific message that the existing council should be communicating about their so-called "organised" opposition

wow its amasing that one of the labor party stalwarts,Leigh Dall'Osto dosn't even know what TAA the airline stands for. She said Trans Atlantic Airlines, so i gather TAA flew to Russia where all her labor party commo's lived just north of Bowen.

Manning will only be serving one term, like Entsch. Manning is only there to fulfil Byrne's plans for his land in the CBD. Oh, and Manning of course won't be "accountable". He won't be facing the public at the end of his term.

At least Leigh Dall'Osto has the courage to put her name to her comments while gutless wonders like yourself hide behind your anonymity and throw shit.

Ayy mate, this is an old mug shot of Byrnesy hey. He's now so fucken fat he'd explode if he had a good fart hey. Yeah I reckon Manning is only gunna warm the seat like before he up and resigns half way through his Council term, so that good ole Kev can come back and take his seat. I reckon little Napoleon, Newman will appoint Byrnesy no fucken worries.

A VOTE FOR MANNING IS A VOTE FOR BYRNE.

It's quite obvious Manning is doing another Stench act. Only going to serve one term and won't be accountable to the people. Thus he can do what he wants to basically.

Dina Grow up, Byrne is way, way out of the picture and you morons who still seem ti think that he is pulling the strings of Unity 2012 need to look at the nose on your face as it will grow!!! They are not aligned with Byrne, have not had any contact with him and continue to run their own campaign in an honest and clear way, unlike some other candidates who are running for Council and State. Why don't you all just get off the Byrne wagon cos everytime you bring up his name Unity 2012 win another vote!!!! Jennifer eckles

Anonymous above, you must be still living in lala land. Byrne is still in the picture having more than his two bobs worth. Everyone knows Mackenzie is his mouthpiece. As for Manning, his ties with Byrne are also well known. Margie's role is just to shore up Manning's vote with her perferences, that's all. She's a good girl who will do her duty and then be told to piss off.

Byrne has been interfering with the Cairns Regional Council ever since his defeat by Val Schier. He has never accepted being defeated by a woman. In this regard he is exactly like Kevin Rudd, motivated by spite, malice and revenge. Both Byrne and Rudd have personality disorder syndrome, and their behaviour since being kicked out of the boss chair so to speak, proves they were unsuitable to be in the top job in the first place. It is likely both also possess sociopathic characteristics.

Well said athena. Yes Rudd is on the revenge trail, as has Byrne been these past few years. Byrne has attempted to destabilise the Council and egged Mackenzie on with his unmitigated hate campaign against Val. Rudd has been steadily plotting away and undermining Gillard since he was deposed. Neither Rudd nor Byrne shows any interest in anything other than their own narcissistic fatted egos. By seeking revenge instead of accepting their new roles in life, they have demonstrated their unsuitability for public power.

Hey you reckon you can see Manning out the front doing the Zumba, like Mayor Val did recently, wearing a very fetching black leotard?? Blubber guts Kev?? Hehehe, the young crowd there all cheered Val.

Bus Op. said...

I doubt Manning could sustain the incredible pace around the community that Val does, Buzz. But then again he is only standing for one term, so what the hell does it matter??

Dina said...

Can't see Manning out the front of a Zumba crowd wearing a fetching leotard either Buzz. Nor come to think of it, can I see Margie Cochrane. Val would have to be the fittest Mayor we have had for some time, out there amongst the sports players, and heavily involved in the community.

We must remember that Byrne has been voted OUT twice by the people of Cairns. Beaten by Tom Pyne and Val. He must be slow on the uptake or just sssssoooooo arrogant that he believes he still has a right to interfere in the running of this town. Maybe he has convinced the developers that 'flicked him a few bucks' throughout his reign that he will regain power (in the new shape of Manning)so their investment in will still pay off.

It's interesting to note that Byrne is back in town and obviously now directing Gavin King. You can't help but just know something crooked is covertly bubbling away.

By the pricking of my thumbs
something wicked this way comes...
You are right Anonymous above, the scene is being set, the pawns are being lined up - carefully chosen pawns too, not ones who might rock the boat too much. There's King whose ambition and lack of ethics leaves him open to the highest bidder, there's Manning who as a septegenarian will only be serving one term on the Council if elected and if his health lasts, there's the Unity Team of Councillors who almost all are inexperienced in Council matters, and finally there's Mackenzie and The Cairns Post geared up to tear down anyone who might criticise them. It's going to be open slather if all these people are elected.
