|JOHN MACKENZIE-ORGANISED CRUISE|
SHIP GREETING CREW - GAVIN KING AND
UNITY TEAM VOTERS!
John "Cueball" MacKenzie has used his program to get the inlet dredged, delusional that this action will result in some kind of massive increase in cruise ship arrivals to Cairns. This despite the professionals confirming that this is at best only a blip on the tourism radar.
And this hillbilly push is completely in conflict with Cueball's other campaign, forcing the use of the Cairns waterfront for more industrial use despite the clear signals from the industrial users that Mourilyan harbour, not the Cairns CBD, is a more appropriate location for increased industrial use.
|THIS IS THE KIND OF WELCOMING LOCAL GREETING|
PROVIDED IN PLACES WHERE THERE ARE REAL
BUSINESS LEADERS AND A FRIENDLY CULTURE
Why? As one "business leader" said - "it's already a busy holiday weekend, why should we put on more staff just for one ship"? Lots of lazy motherfuckers in this town, it seems - even among the so called "business leaders".
MacKenzie seems to be gobsmacked at why he's been personally unable to get action on this subject. This isn't a government issue. This is a business leadership issue. MacKenzie regularly boasts how influential he is with TTNQ, with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with the business owners in the CBD.
And these "leaders" continue to ignore the arrival of cruise ships with passengers from mythical countries where cruise ship passengers arrive with pockets full of gold that they hand out far and wide. Bob Manning was head of the Port Authority. Did he implement a "cruise ship greeting" plan? What about Margie Cochrane and her team of "experienced business leaders". Why haven't they been down there supporting the business community? Why would Gavin King and the LNP continue to support the idea of dredging the Cairns harbour when the tourist industry greets every ship arrival with a communal "Yawn"?
All good questions. And like always John "Cueball" MacKenzie shows zero interest in asking the hard questions. Any questions to TTNQ? Bob Manning? The Chamber? Of course not! Hard questions might result in his free meals and other CBD handouts getting cut-off. No sir. No hard questions from ol' rugnut. Just hillbilly whinging.
