MACCA BAFFLED AS TO WHY HIS SHOW COMPLETELY INEFFECTIVE AT "FIXING" ALL THE CAIRNS "PROBLEMS"

JOHN MACKENZIE-ORGANISED CRUISE
SHIP GREETING CREW - GAVIN KING AND
UNITY TEAM VOTERS!
John "Cueball" MacKenzie has used his program to get the inlet dredged, delusional that this action will result in some kind of massive increase in cruise ship arrivals to Cairns.  This despite the professionals confirming that this is at best only a blip on the tourism radar.

And this hillbilly push is completely in conflict with Cueball's other campaign, forcing the use of the Cairns waterfront for more industrial use despite the clear signals from the industrial users that Mourilyan harbour, not the Cairns CBD, is a more appropriate location for increased industrial use.

THIS IS THE KIND OF WELCOMING LOCAL GREETING
PROVIDED IN PLACES WHERE THERE ARE REAL
BUSINESS LEADERS AND A FRIENDLY CULTURE
Cueball however continues to be baffled that the tourism industry continues to ignore these cruise ship arrivals like that over the weekend.  The public continues to get complaints from the tourists of no tourism information on the port, no rental cars (where was Steve Grasso?), no music or indigenous greeting (where was David Hudson and Tjapukai?), no public transport to Port Douglas or Kuranda or Palm Cove (Where was Sunbus?  Cairns Taxi?).  No nothing.

Why?  As one "business leader" said - "it's already a busy holiday weekend, why should we put on more staff just for one ship"?  Lots of lazy motherfuckers in this town, it seems - even among the so called "business leaders".

Pathetic.

MacKenzie seems to be gobsmacked at why he's been personally unable to get action on this subject.  This isn't a government issue.  This is a business leadership issue.  MacKenzie regularly boasts how influential he is with TTNQ, with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with the business owners in the CBD.

And these "leaders" continue to ignore the arrival of cruise ships with passengers from mythical countries where cruise ship passengers arrive with pockets full of gold that they hand out far and wide.  Bob Manning was head of the Port Authority.  Did he implement a "cruise ship greeting" plan?  What about Margie Cochrane and her team of "experienced business leaders".  Why haven't they been down there supporting the business community?  Why would Gavin King and the LNP continue to support the idea of dredging the Cairns harbour when the tourist industry greets every ship arrival with a communal "Yawn"?

All good questions.  And like always John "Cueball" MacKenzie shows zero interest in asking the hard questions.  Any questions to TTNQ?  Bob Manning?  The Chamber?  Of course not! Hard questions might result in his free meals and other CBD handouts getting cut-off.  No sir.  No hard questions from ol' rugnut.  Just hillbilly whinging.

Two stories in one day, HBW? You're on a roll. . .

As for Rugnut, how long will he give Gavin King and the LNP to "fix" the policing issues in town? He's started taking these calls again on how horrible the crime is here - is he running out of patience already? Perhaps Gavin needs to strap on a firearm and do his own CBD patrols.

rugnut won't be taking many more of these calls for too much longer, but telling listeners what a marvellous job Gavin has done. Wait and see. Without spending a cent on extra police, suddenly we will be told how unbelievably safe the town is.

true, Need more police is a right wing fear standby. Get the punters scared they are more likely to vote conservative. Once in power the same crime rate is never so scary. MAGIC, MAGIC. Cheap crime prevention, just stop mentioning it.

Dredging Trinity, a job for the mates I guess. Unless they have high demand then not worth it. The demand may come one day but not here yet. Better ways to to spend the money now. Manning is trying to confuse people by pretending he can change ports north policy and it may work for him.

Just shows you can lie openly and still have a chance at getting elected. Seems to happen more often than not. Maybe it is a case of "why bother with the truth". Honesty does not pay.
