UNITY TEAM STRATEGY REVEALED - OL' CUEBALL CAN'T KEEP HIS BIG MOUTH SHUT AFTER A COUPLE BOTTLES OF WINE

OVERHEARD AT THE "UNITY TEAM WATERING HOLE" earlier this week:

"Ian Thomas is a wanker, and won't get 5% (of the vote).  And Margie has a following but is incapable of managing all the big egos on the council.  The only hope is Bob (Manning), but to be fair we're giving lots of time to the other two so that together their preferences flow to Unity.  Because the only thing important is to send Val (Schier) and the other lefties packing and rescue this city from the ratbags".

rugnut must be shitting himself because Val is out there winning people over and turning the tide back. It looks a dead cert. too that the newly elected Council will contain a Unity bloc plus a selection of Independents.

And this is the Team which Richie Bates has enmeshed himself with. Wonder what purpose they will have for him if he is elected? Will his "casting vote" to abolish the Entertainment Precinct concept and erect a small performing arts theatre on a certain developers private land site, be slanted and trumpeted in the media as a Judas act against the Mayor?? Whatever, he will serve a purpose and he will be singled out from the other Unity Team members and used as a whipping boy. I can see it coming.

Mackenzie has been using Margie Cochrane as a salve for his misogynistic rantings against Val. What Margie hasn't woken up to yet is that the misogynism has enveloped her as well. Mackenzie doesn't bother to hide his low opinion of Margie to others.

VOTE 1 JOE BLAKE said...

Lets hope those independents who are elected are not pissweak and easily intimidated. rugnut will be onto them giving them a taste of the treatment when they win Divisions over Unity candidates.

Independents my arse, they are all aligned with a party, and Cairns is fucked, as they only want there party to win and to preach there party line, the better out of the two is LNP as we have had enough of Labor bullshit lies, its time for some new ones from the LNP. Haaaaha

You blubberish dugong Colin, ever heard of something called "swinging voters", people who just are not committed to any party? No, I dare say, with your limited intelligence Haaaaahaaa, you don't know. Haaaahaaaa. Well there are quite a few of them amongst the Council candidates.

Im inclined to agree with you VOTE1JOE BLAKE (for chrissakes get another nick you twit). Cueball will isolate the Independents for special treatment especially if Manning becomes Mayor and the Independents vote against him on any issue. It goes without saying that cueball wont have them on his program either. We'll hear Manning given free time every week just like Byrnes was and open access to the Unity people.

The Unity Team are about to unleash the big money campaign we always see with them. (While assuring us "the big end of town is no more"??!!) I'm under no doubts we will see a Team of Unity people elected, who will vote as a bloc on everything. If Manning isnt elected as Mayor, they will follow his or Byrne's directives on the Council, as a solid voting bloc. Richie Bates had made it plain Unity's modus operandi is "One for all, and all for one."
Margie Cochrane has been used as a pawn by Mackenzie in his campaign to demonise the Mayor. What she doesn't understand is the sheer strength of the misogynism that Mackenzie and King has unleashed has washed all over her as well. She, too, is seen as a figure of fun. Sad. She had the chance many times to stand up to Mackenzie and take him to task for his misogynistic diatribe, his rants against the Council as a whole and his mocking of the office of Mayor. She displayed lack of any leadership qualities by instead ingratiating herself with a man who holds all women in contempt. She will disappear after this election, her only role to give Manning preferences.

We are in for some interesting times I believe.

Im predicting Manning gets up as Mayor on Margie's preferences, and several Unity members elected, with a handful of Independents. Mackenzie will isolate the Independents and start his usual crap. Im predicting Manning gets his Mayoral role all confused with being CEO of the Ports Authority and will spend most of his time trying to do his old job. Mackenzie will have the path wide open then to completely destablilise the Council and demonise some of the Independents blaming them entirely on the lack of a Mayoral presence. If one of the Independents shows promise of leadership, he or she will be particularly targetted by Mackenzie. We will probably lose all the funding for the Entertainment Precinct since it has strings attached, as to timeliness etc and then be left with a rapidly deteriorating civic theatre for many more years.

Hi Dina. You're wrong, as usual. Margaret is not preferencing Manning. Try to keep up hey....

and please, Unity being voted in en masse? Very unlikely. John schilling has no chance in 2, Rob Pyne will be very hard to beat in 3, Terry James has almost no chance in 4, Bates will not win lol, susuan rees wtf as if she will, Jesse Richardson ditto... the list goes on. Unity have a weak team, do not expect to see many of them get in. The next council will be 1 or 2 unity, 3 or 4 community alliance and a few independents.

The only redeemming features of Cairns are some "leftwing" ratbaggery such as Festivals, art fairs and even the "lefty" rat bags are most likely to go to the CBD and support small business and have a cafe latte. Left wing ratbag councillors are more likely to be present and useful during their term and not "gone fishing" or missing, or spending money from brown paper bags.

I cannot tell you the name of the LNP leaning candidates in my division and should they get elected, I have no reason to find out cause we will never hear of them again, if they win or not will be no difference.

Rescue the city from leftwing ratbaggery? They are the glue keeeping this city together. They are the brains trust. They care about the city, not just a few individuals. Lose them the city will implode..

3 or 4 Community Alliance councillors elected Anonymous? Geez I don't even know who the candidates are. Oh, isnt Alan Blake one? Say no more.

Anonymous said...

Curly Joe you're the dumb ass predicting manning will get in on cochrane's preferences... if you had any clue what is going on you would realise she isn't preferencing him.

Anonymous said...

Unity & CA have exchanged preferences for all divisional candidates except blake/bates. Locco and Lieu are the only indpendents with a chance of getting in. Every other seat will be Unity/CA (Steve Brain is CA).

Ron said...

Of course Unity and Community Alliance will exchange preferences. They are cut from the same cloth and their main political objective is to get an LNP dominated Council. No preference deal between Blake and Bates is easy to understand. Bates is ALP. As for Independents, I would say that Pyne, Cooper, Leu and Parisi are dead certs.

Anonymous said...

Unity and CA have weak teams, they just turn up on demand to nod. If they get voted in then Cairns deserves to fail.

Anonymous said...

Pyne will need at least 40% primary vote to win. That's a big ask. Parisi a dead cert????????????? LOL

Pyney for me said...

Pyne will easily and effortlessly go over the 40% mate. He will shit it in.

Looking Ahead said...

We will see any elected representatives from Community Alliance and the Unity Team join forces once they are in Council, to become a solid bloc. The fact that there are two teams running at the moment is only to maximise the anti Independents vote. Most of these people seem to be all fired up on antagonism and opposing the Entertainment Precinct. One issue people. What will happen once they achieve this, and the funding is withdrawn? Their main focus and motivation for being on Council is gone. I predict that once they lose Cairns the biggest Government funding ever seen since the Hospital upgrade, they will then degenerate into a motley collection of squabbling, unfocussed, self-serving loudmouths unable to work as a team. Manning if elected, will try and take over the CEOs role at Cairns Ports. Its obvious that he has serious unresolved issues there, and his main focus on standing for Mayor will be to interfere with Cairns Ports and insinuate himself into the CEO role there. All up, it looks for a very interestng period, the like of which will not be to the advantage or good of Cairns, but a period characterised by ugly, short sighted revenge politics.

Kay said...

Just like the State Election, this Council Election will be a 'revenge" election with voters blaming the Council for all the wrong things. I read a letter today about the empty shops in the CBD where the writer just blames the Council. Has she any idea of the exorbtant cost of leases in the CBD and how the Council cannot do anything about it? No. But that hasnt stopped her from shooting her mouth off to all and sundry and giving herself a reutation as an ignoramus. Has she any idea that the CBD in Cairns is dead, as it is in many many other cities around the world and they are being slowly transpormed into inner city residential districts? No. She wants to cling to the past and probably lacks the intellect to understand that cities are forever changing. So she will likely run along at the Council Elections and vote for a new team and won't understand at all when they can't 'revive" the CBD and take it back to what it was like decades ago. She will just get angrier.

Anonymous said...

haha suck it up independent ratbags, the torries have preferenced you out of the race!!!

Anonymous said...

Some of those empty shops belong to investors who purposely leave them empty so as to write off as their bad debt. Others were going to go broke anyway because they were just rip off merchants out to get the tourist dollar. The city is buzzing at the moment, but if the tourist operators continue to rip off the tourists, they won't come back. It's so cheap to go to Bali or even Tassie.

If it was a comment from the serial haaha pest troll that was deleteted then i don't think too many readers will be disappointed. You can only tolerate moronic idiots for so long.

Kay, if Manning gets his way and restarts Cairns as an industrial port again with all its hazards, smells, noises etc, then no investor will want to invest good money on inner city developments. This was one of the reasons why decades ago, it was decided to turn Cairns into a "boutique port" and to redevelop the Esplanade. The industrial port operations were to be moved to Mourilyan down the road. Manning wants to undo all of this and take us back in time. Frankly he seems confused as to what his role will be as Mayor.

what are all you lefty losers gonna do once you have been wiped out at all 3 levels of government? Please just do us a favor and crawl into your holes until the next election thanks.

Bob Manning was on 4CA McKenzie rant this morning stating that Mayor Val's letter to C.P. regarding the entertainment precinct was totally incorrect. What a tired voice and a bore to hear and his relying on Newman to come up with funding and a new site for this project based on a promise only and then stating that Enstch would see to it that the feds would chip in when Abbott is in control. Some positive vision for this city? I don't think so. What a lot of rot and exactly what legacy has Enstch ever left for FNQ. What's the go with these would be politicians and just how far behind Manning is Byrne standing.

So many people are lazy and need help on who to vote for. How about a short list near the top of this page of dos and don'ts for voting. A summary if you will.

We need a proactive council that will do something not just sit on their hands and look at the books as quoted by Bob Manning.
