Naked Energy, the dodgy-looking company previously investigated, dropped in for an "interview" with Cueball MacKenzie on Monday, to spruik more of their dodgy-sounding "deals" on solar.
Cueball didn't even bother informing the audience before or after the "interview" that it was from a paying advertiser, another (sigh) breach of the ACMA broadcast laws.
But no matter. Campbell Newman has closed down the solar industry this morning, reducing the feed-in tariff (what the government pays us) from 44 cents a kilowatt hour to 8 cents. Cairns residents normally pay 22 cents per kilowatt hour, comparable to Hawaii where residents pay about 25 cents. Hawaii. An island with no resources, no energy sources, with everything shipped in.
The average cost of electricity in the USA is 9.8 cents.
China makes electricity from coal mined in Queensland and shipped 10,000km by boat, and then more by train to power plants. The Chinese pay 7.7 cents a kilowatt hour.
Ol' Cueball had Mr. Canadian downplaying the government decision, claiming that the "payback time" on a system now is about 10 years instead of 4. Clearly Wade Allen doesn't have a calculator, OR a clue. Apparently Wade is going to get stuck with a whole warehouse full of unsold gear like the insulation schemers. Done in by your new LNP government, thank you very much.
Goodbye, Naked Energy. We await your next dodgy Canadian scheme.
