HOW DO YOU JUDGE SUCCESS. . . .

Cueball John MacKenzie, gleeful at the so-called "success" of the CBD police blitz, said to his 300 hillbillies this morning:

"the feckless drunks apparently have an aversion to the constant patrolling by the constables, and have shot thru. . . "

To where?

Ask fuckwit Phil. He's been quiet lately but the old hillbilly fart has turned up once more in the compost today with a never before used original play on politician's names *yawn*
"Well I hope JuLIAR and Swine are fronting up for the costs of all this extra STATE POLICE training manpower and equipment and it is NOT coming from the State Budget."
Sounds familiar doesn't it. Do these people ever have any original thoughts instead of echoing the rantings of their pinup hero even when it is to the economic detriment of our region?

Good observation, HBW. I've been wondering the same thing myself. Even MacKenzie agrees that many of these people were alcoholics in need of treatment. We all know there IS NO TREATMENT available. So have we done the socially responsible thing, pushing these people out of the CBD to who knows where, without any medical treatment?

Or have they been secretly bussed out of town, the "Kevin Byrne" solution?

There is something seriously wrong with Mackenzie's mental powers. We have had extra police, foot patrols, police liasion officers etc., police on bicycles several times in the past, resulting in a short term loss of parkies wandering the CBD. However, the results have always been the same. Once the police presence goes, the parkies come straight back. Mackenzie would know this has been regularly happening since the 1980s. Surely he would remember?? Something hideous is going on upstairs in his head. I'm wondering if it isn't korsakoff's syndrome which can seriously affect memory? Anyone know how much booze Mackenzie has imbibed over the decades? Alcohol is the cause of korsakoff's and Mackenzie is at the age when it starts developing. No, I'm not being sarcastic here. As I said, we have gone through "extra police presence" many times over the past few decades, too many for Mackenzie not to remember.

It'd be cool if they all went to Forest Gardens. :)

Well when you cruise S.E.A looking for thrills you don't wonder anymore.I wonder if he takes Philis Diller with him?

Your right
Let's bring the rubbish back into the CBD. Much better for the community all round.Better to have drunks and criminals wandering around hasstling everyone.
Are you losers ever happy?
The "do gooders" on this site are a laugh a minute. One day you want law and order and the next your more concerned about the welfare of the crap that the police have to clean up.
Do you really care about our image and safety? We wanted action and we got it.
Hillbilly, go and find something serious to complain about.

Manning , King and Entsch are now talking about re-opening Lion's House. good ! Let's not forget that it was King and Entsch who caused it to close it down in the first place. Now they can take the credit for re-opening it.

It is good that law and order is being restored in the CBD, but how serious are they about the rest of the city ?

I saw 4 storm troopers in police overalls enter the Pier Bar the other day, followed 10 minutes later by 2 senior police in uniform. Why ? There is plenty of secutity at that place and there is no law and order problem.

Why don't the walk the streets of Earlville, Manoora and Moorroobool at night. That's where the real problems are.

As for the parkies; I don't think anyone knows what the solution is, but letting them run riot in the CBD won't help anyone. I know for a fact that the tourists are horrified by it and it reflects badly on us all.

Anonymous, did you read my comments? Did you know that we have had "extra police" in the CBD many times over the past SEVERAL decades? (Are you like Gavin King, the Member for Mackenzie, and a mexican up here? Just arrived in the past few years and you only listen to Mackenzie for fairy tales as facts?) Did you know what happened after those "extra police" diseappeared? Hey? Hey? Give it a few months and you will be whinging, whining and bellyaching all over again.

Ummm, ruby, you're talking about Gavin King's number one policy advisor here. You know the person who told him about "dredging the inlet" (without giving him the full history, but Mackenzie has forgotten hasn't he?) But King has also clearly revealed he can't research anything either. His only "research" is listening to memory impaired idiots like Mackenzie. Im frankly enjoying watching the stuff ups King does, over and over. As people keep on pointing out in here, Cairns is being driven round and round in circles. Even the recent fuss over the tunnel through the Kuranda Range. Bet Mackenzie didnt tell King that we had engineers, geologists etc all look at that issue also in the 1980s. King's chief policy advisor has no doubt forgotten all!

Good point there ruby about Mackenzie's memory capacity. Heard his waffling on again the other day about the Kuranda tunnel bizzo. We had all sorts of experts up here in the 1980s looking into that. Yet another historical fact that Mackenzie has forgotten and won't be brought up when he has his policy meetings with King. Yeah you're correct too about all the police. We've seen a never ending conga line of cops going through the CBD ever since the 1980s, cops on bikes, cops on foot, black cops and so forth. On and on it goes, and we go round and round in circles as you all have commented.

Oh shit here we go AGAIN, another lap around the old circle hey. THE KURANDA FRIGGIN TUNNELL Jesus h christ, how many times has this one come up over the decades hey.

If you drove in a tunnel from point A (Smithfield) to point B (Kuranda) the gradient would be too great for a conventional motor vehicle. A tunnel would have to zig and zag like the conventional road to meet a vehicular gradient.

That said, a better road access to the Tablelands will be required to meet current and future demand - a tunnel does not stack up financially. Nor does the destroyed Quaid road (which only addressed a section of land for potential commercial development between Mt Molloy and Hartleys Creek which was obliterated by Cyclone Steve) or the other suggested option of a link road via a bridge over Copperlode Dam via Reservoir Road (imagine the traffic congestion that would cause.

Best to let the expert traffic planners decide future traffic corridors rather than political parties or callers to 4CA or writers to the local rag.

Sadly, I fear the expert traffic planners may lose their jobs under this current regime.

You got to wonder where all these coppers disappear to? We must have had close to a hundred coppers here in Cairns put to patrol the CBD over the decades. Where in fuck's name do they vanish to? Be interesting to watch how long this current lot are there for.

Anonymous said...

Seth mate, I love a good mystery and history of full of mystery. Im wondering if all those coppers met the same fate as the army of King Cambyses which disappeared into the Arabian desert somewhere around 525BC and were never seen again. Or did they meet the fate of the Roman Ninth Legion who in 117AD marched into Scotland to meet the Picts and vanished into thin air? The mind boggles mate. So much unexplained in the world.

Hello. The Bligh ALP Government provided funds to Cairns to upgrade the CBD. Newman grabbed the money after the election. Now King is "boasting" that the Government will provide funds to upgrade the CBD in the budget. ????? We'll believe it when we see it.
