YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST - CHINA SOUTHERN STARTS LIMITED SERVICE TO CAIRNS 18 DECEMBER (TOTAL 31 FLIGHTS)

HBW EXCLUSIVE:  9:37AM

CAIRNS POST  12:32 PM

Gavin "Don't Rape Me" King, given the opportunity at 10:30 AM today to confirm this fact for the citizens of Cairns, refused to do so.  Why?  Party loyalty and sucking up to the party leaders is more important than the citizens he represents!
Even after someone came up to him and congratulated him for getting China Southern here, he refused to confirm what is being reported across the media - so as to not "embarrass" Minister Stuckey and her "big announcement" TOMORROW.
GAVE-IN KING - EMASCULATED HAS-BEEN

This is quite hysterical! I heard that guy on Ch 7 (or was it 9?) announce the China flights at about 3pm today -talk about emasculation!! Pollies start off with all these grandiose ideas about how they are going to "serve their communities" and then once they are embroiled in the Party Machine they find they are totally powerless! Gavin King must be feeling REALLY disappointed.

A complete useless prick he has know idea, and he is just as bad as the old puppets we had, nothing has changed. I bet the Dredgeing will not happen in this term and they will use it as a carrot for the next election, well i recon its a one term Government as they are on the nose already, and people i'v talked to who voted for "no can do" have had enough of LNP and its only been 5 mths.

I fell asleep listening to King this morning on the radio.

Who was it that went to China to help get flights into Cairns. Yes, it was Mayor Val Schier. The Cairns Festival, The Indigenous Arts Festival, the re-vamped and improved Street Parade, and the Tennis Centre (now with Boring Bob promoting it). All work by Val and her Council. This Bolt thing is useless and it was King and his mob who criticised Val for the Ukulele Festival which has grown each year I can't see Bolt coming back each year to Cairns and what can we expect from him anyway? Will he be running along the Esplanade or maybe joining in on the Zumba record (also thanks to Val.) We should all be thankful for Val Schier for her efforts and vision.

Anonymous 18:41 sounds a lot like Di Forsyth. Just sayin.

Anonymous 20.19 For your information I am a male not a female. OK....

Anonymous said...

No it's not Di - but there is another one who worked hard with vision for this city. Where are the visionaries now? "Everything back to basics" has no vision at all. If you read the comments from Manning on his first 100 days, there was nothing new or exciting planned or mentioned.

All this hysteria about this runner bolt reminds me of the hysteria over oprah winfrey.I remember mackenzie breathlessly telling his small listening circle that americans would flock to cairns after her visit. From memory the closest she got to the people of cairns was when the customs dog licked her on the face in side her aircraft.I saw the only american to visit post winfrey,he was a large man in mcdonalds ordering 14 cheeese burgers and a dozen shakes.Do people realize that celebrity worship is one of the worst forms of human shallowness there is.Get a life cairns!

"...celebrity worship is one of the worst forms of human shallowness there is." How true, but don't we have a shallow, self-serving society today? King was elected by appealing to the lowest common denominator, he knows where his support comes from, and he is going to keep on appealing to them.

Job cuts will cost FNQ another 90 million. www.brisbanetimes.com.au/opinion/the-unintended-consequences-of-job-cuts-20120815-248hn.html

King is a really bad MP, he was a really bad journalist. How far can ego alone carry people?

I well recall when people in Cairns were creaming themselves over drunken womanising old Lee fucken Marvin, and ignoring a REAL actor, Leo McKern (Rumpole of the Bailey) who was then living at Stratford.

I am a little confused.Just saw Costello on the 7 local news saying to the effect that a lot of cairns port land would be sold off, including the area that the last council was going to build the CEP on.80% of Cairns had wet dreams that this area should be preserved for future shipping. As I said to my wife early march,Newman will sell it after Cairns rejected all that free money and the highest bidder will build a bloody great concrete hotel on it.To rub salt into our wounds,K Byrne will be involved and we could end up with mark two of his previous efforts.Pearl must be having a fit!

Anonymous said...

Many of us knew that there was some sort of scam going on. More and more is revealed every day, but the apathetic and ignorant general public will just switch off, yawn and go to bed while this this swindle goes on. What a bloody disgrace. Our very own "Pearl Harbour". I hope the LNP will turn Wangetti into a bloody waste dump.

Anonymous said...

Oh let's not just target Pearl. Cairns is chock a block full of bogans, rednecks and plain dickheads who suck up whatever Mackenzie says. I mean for fucks sake what other city would reject a brand new hospital?

Anonymous said...

Yep,

Val had a hand in all these things happening now. Boring Bob is no where to be seen!!

To Anonymous 20.19 I am not afraid to comment under my own name and whilst I am not Anonymous 18.41 I agree with everything he said as it's all true. I am not afraid to stand up for my principles and values and know that whilst a member of Val Schier's Council I worked hard for the community of Cairns and am happy to take credit along with Val and other progressive councillors for the great outcomes, even with political interference, our Council achieved.

Good on you Di ! We miss you.

McKenzie briefly mentioned Peter Costello's visit to Cairns today , but omitted to report the suggestion that Port land should be sold to private enterprise. Why didn't he mention that ? Because this whole "working Port" thing was just a giant con job to deceive a gullible electorate ?Will there be a Chinese owned hotel on the former CEP site ?

Manning still maintains that the CEP project is only suspended, not terminated. There is profound silence on the ridiculous Shangri-La proposal.

Looks like we are back to the system of shady deals and secrecy.

Manning told Pearl today that CRC had not had any proposals for the Shangri-La theatre. He also told Pearl that the preferred site was the Port authority building and Pearl had no issue with that. They are just waiting for some private business to spit in some money apparently.

How these threads wobble and meander away from the topic! Thought I must just post that I have contacted King's office expressing my concerns over the axeing of the main tuberculosis treatment center in Birsbane and seeking that we have adequate staffing here to prevent and treat tuberculosis. Will keep HBW posted when there is a reply.

Jethro said...

So you should have Alison. t.b. isn't a joke and King can't afford to ignore this. It took decades for the disease to be reduced to manageable levels here in Australia. I can recall when once we turned 14 we all had to go and have a chest Xray and there were big signs everywhere warning against spitting or expectorating.

Alison said...

Thanks Jethro. We have meandered off the topic of the thread again, however I am also old enough to recall some of what the authorities did to control the disease. We were a very different community in the 1950s and 1960s; we did not gravitate in large numbers in air-conditoned shopping centres; we did not have the international air travel we have today, for example.
I believe if the disease gets out in the community today, it will be a lot harder, and much more costly to bring under control. Newman's government cannot afford to be complacent about this.

TB or not TB, that 's the question. Maybe we will all be walking around with those funny little facemasks soon...In the meantime King is rapidly turning into the type of politician he despised so much when he worked for the ComPost and life was so simple.

Alison said...

Umm Anonymous 16.19, yes, you with all the typos. Just a point, the likes of Gavin King's generation cannot remember tuberculosis and what the authorities did to combat it. The disease was under control by the time they were born. I actually asked a couple of young people the other day if they know what "T.B." stood for. They shook their heads.

I don't know what you're talking about anonymous 18.8.12 18:11 He's doing a great job out front, as Mark Latham would say, of the conga line of suckholes to get someone called Bolt to come here. Apparently this is the best use of his MP time and influence and will achieve great results for our city.

Anonymous said...

I think King's transformation has been spectacularly quick giving his criticizing and ridiculing of the previous state government and council over the years.

What is even more galling is to see some of the new state members and councillors taking credit for the achievements of their predecessors. Achievements they ridiculed at the time. Like typical politicians they are too mean-spirited to give credit, where credit is due.

At least the ukulele festival that King denigrated so much is a lot more meaningful and successful than his stupid publicity stunt to get Bolt up here.

I suppose he hasn't got much time left for anything else. he's obviously too busy following the instructions from Brisbane, read his prepared script and shut up about anything that might cost money or upset Can-Do.

How dare you say I am emasculated. I had a look and I am not so there you nasty peeps. Nasty! You're all just jellous of me because I am the VIP person in Cairns. Soon I will be a VIP in the whole State. Yes. If I play my cards right, I will be a Minister. Awesome! Queensland needs someone like moi. I will be the first Minister ever to represent Cairns, so stick that up your red cossacky thingys whatever, you evil bunch of commos. Toodle-pip for now. Gotta run, talk to John MA MAN!

Still giving yourself airs hey "Bling", Member for Mackenzie? Like the wankers lie designed to big note yourself during the election campaign that "Labor had held the seat of Cairns for a hundred years". What shit that was. As for being the "first Minister to represent Cairns", you have already been beaten on that one as well - by Labor.
