|THE CAIRNS REGIONAL COUNCIL OF SEVEN MENTAL DWARFS|
So it's a mystery why our pollies are telling such differing tales about the newly-released crime statistics for Cairns, and MacKenzie is entertaining his growing list of kookery from the racist public.
On the surface the statistics would look to be a win for the LNP. With the Cairns crime rate almost equal of that in Central Brisbane, the period covered is mostly on Anna Bligh's watch. No government could turn around such a trend so quickly. And while of course Joh Bjelke Newman has blamed the soft courts and weak sentencing for the crime problem, he COULD have passed laws to fix these issues when he first came into office. Instead he rammed thru laws against gay marriage and pay increases for his backbenchers. This wouldn't seem to bode well for the long-term health of the LNP, however.
But what kind of rube is Michael "Backhoe" Trout, saying on the the Cueball hour yesterday morning that crime is on the decline in Cairns? Didn't he get the memo? And Gavin "Don't Rape Me" King weighed in with a completely opposite view, claiming that the figures from Cape York skew the Cairns figures because they "have higher incidents (sic) of crime". That may be true, with the Cape figures affected by the Trout family criminals - with Backhoe's two brothers both being convicts, a range of drug and major property crimes being unusual in the Cape.
And King has done bugger-all about the major crime initiative he promised outside the hospital. The smokers are still there, dickhead. Too hard for you?
And while of course Joh Bjelke Newman has blamed the soft courts and weak sentencing for the crime problem, he could have passed laws to fix that when he first came into office. Instead he rammed thru laws against gay marriage. Newman's priorities clearly are different than those of the citizenry.
Cueball MacKenzie continued his squawking and shrieking on the issue this morning, claiming that even the Newman government hard-line policing in the CBD wasn't working (surprise?). He shared a report he received from women who had been subjected to the most vile abuse and verbal assault in the CBD - however this abuse could have easily come from a Gavin King-led "Leadership Forum".
Then one of the 300 hillbilly callers came up with what Cueball said was "an interesting solution" to the CBD problem. Chris proposed that "certain people would have to pay for a day ticket" to enter the CBD. He then listed those that would be exempt from this CBD toll - business owners, shoppers, cruise ship arrivals, those with legitimate business. Is it any surprise the "certain people" were our aboriginal brothers & sisters?
It will be exciting to hear if this new plan will be embraced by Mayor Sleepy and his Seven Mental Dwarfs.
