MICHAEL TROUT BEGINS WALKBACK OF LNP "ZERO TOLERANCE" FOR CROCS

It's now Michael Trout's turn to "roll back" Joh Bjelke Newman promises to Cairns, and FNQ.   Prior to the election, Campbell Newman made as a "firm commitment" to Cairns a policy of "zero tolerance" for crocodiles in the city.  In his policy statement, trumpeted on 4CA to the glee of John MacKenzie, Newman promised North Queensland $1.5M to implement an exclusion policy, along with removal of all animals in urban areas.

Cairns Regional Council, asked to produce a "crocodile management plan" under this promise, created a plan which included exclusion areas (Lake Placid and Freshwater Creek), which will require barriers to be constructed with this shared $1.5M fund.  However in the last few weeks, the word was handed down to council staff - no, there isn't $1.5M, it's really only $500K.  And actually, both the $1.5M Newman election commitment and the sneaky, revised $500K commitment are lies.  The real commitment is even much less - only $380K, according to Newman's own budget summary (page 18).

LNP fuckers cut a $1.1M out of their "firm commitment" to Cairns, with "Backhoe" Trouty being told to man up, get out the KY, and explain it to Cairns.  When it comes to Cairns you see, everything is being done at discount prices.  Wait 'till you see what the Bruce Highway upgrade looks like after these cheap ruthless LNP fuckers finish stripping money out of it.  Curtis Pitt has got his work cut out for him keeping the bastards honest.

So today "Backhoe" Trouty is charged with explaining his lies to the community.  Even more difficult then explaining how that other guy's backhoe got from Smithfield to Daddy's Kalinga farm.

Trout now claims that "he doesn't believe exclusion zones are possible", instead wanting councils to endorse "zero-tolerence zones" that conveniently require council-paid patrols.  As we warned just a few days ago, Trout, like his other Cairns mate Gavin "Don't Rape Me" King is now being hung out to dry by their Brisvegas LNP masters.  Used and discarded in Newman's quest for a premiership.

All the Member for Reptiles is proving is that he's no better at deception than his two brothers.  But the ratepayers are already proving to be wise to this LNP bullshit and even our sleepytime council isn't going to have the dosh to pay for LNP promises.

Get used to the crocs, Cairns.  They're here to stay.  But the real reptiles are the ones you foolishly elected.

And the fun is just beginning - it's not only tropical fish moving south as the planet's waters warm. There's a bloody big salty in the Mary River and earlier in the year a mature freshy was found in the Burnett at Mundubbera where I grew up - previously freshies were not known south of The Isa.

There are two possible explanations - either Climate Change or, if the LNP flat earthers can't accept that, then there is the alternative theory that the last election demonstrated to the crocs that Queenslanders embrace the return of dinosaurs.

McKenzie will be spitting chips, but at least he can keep filling half his show with people bitching about crocs. That's if he makes it back. He's been sounding pretty crook lately.

I can assure your readers the plans and contracts for the Cairns Bruce Highway Upgrade (CBHU) were “set in stone” well before the current state government took office! It was initiated under Pitt the elder and progressed by Pitt the younger.

It is in my nature NOT to trust the corporate sector, but I have to say the company doing the CBHU have also been first rate!

I went to the first ‘Community meeting” in opposition to this upgrade just over 4 years ago. It was a “who’s who” of our local LNP. If any of them dare show up when this project is opened I will be reminding one of this and the lies of well over 100 houses being resumed. And who do you reckon put these lies to air??? You guessed it!

I am happy to stand shoulder to shoulder with Curtis Pitt, now the next stage (which will involve a few resumptions) of this project needs to be argued for, but you can be sure of one thing - it will never receive funding while this current state government is in office!

I think mixing bikes and pedestrians on the combined walking/cycling track (after they rip up the bit near muddies) is a far greater hazard to our collective safety and wellbeing than the odd croc inhabiting a known croc habitat.

To much eating King Trout and M skewdriver pies, he' got verble desease and spewing out Campbell soup with Newmans sauce.

Another matter in Fishy Trout's electorate is Taylor Point. The Anglican Diocese, which is semi-Catholic, sold the land against an old lady's bequest to fund TAS Marlin Coast Campus. These insincere pricks should be exposed for their deceit and the developer in question should be given the benefit of the doubt. Time to question the motives of the not for profit Anglcan Church who have created an elitist school at Kewarra Beach using the funds from Taylor Point. Disgusting behaviour. Let me guess, they also got funds from the Howard Govt to enrich their elitist semi-Catholic operation?

Yer not wrong about rugnut sounding sick with his dry cough and hoarse voice. A nice lil dose of t.b. yer reckon? We got more bloody chance of contracting t.b. from the hundreds of thousands of Chinese soon about to invade the country than being attacked by crocs.

From as far back as I can remember, over 60 years, there have always been sightings of crocs in the waterways around Cairns. A croc is a powerful animal and can swim long distances. I doubt we could ever be entirely free of crocs here.

Anonymous said...

Of course we can't get rid of them, but it distracts the punters from other important issues and gives many ignorant fools who probably never come near a waterway something to whinge about.

JETHRO said...

You're not wrong there Anonymous 07.45 above. All this hyped up hysteria about the dangers of crocodiles appeals to the darkest primordial instincts of the small brained neanderthal rednecks in the region. It has created a perfect diversion from the real dangers of a contagion entering the region with the hundreds of thousands of Chinese soon to fly in. There isn't anything much we can do about it either as the Newman Government have decided to leave Queenslanders fully exposed and vulnerable to this reprehensible disease. It is worth pointing out that Springborg, the current Health Minister is too young to recall the 1960s and the end of the campaign to rid Australia of the disease. So too is Gavin King, who was born well after the disease had been contained. It is those of us who are 60 plus who recall the massive signage and fines for spitting, the government medicos visiting people at home, the people sent to sanitariums or hospitals for long periods of time and the general fear of the disease in the community. That we should face it once again, with a government ignoring the dangers, is just terrifying.

Anybody know how many people have been killed by crocs on FNQ beaches in the last 20 years,I know Steve Irwin got killed by a ray

Anonymous said...

Google tells me that an average of one person per year is killed by a croc in FNQ -now compare that to the road toll.

Thanks Jethro for the above. I think it fair to say that the community memory of epidemics or contagion has been lost. The last polio epidemic in Australia was in 1956 for example. Hence, most people are simply unaware of the risks. I have been trying to find out what the Newman Government are doing with tuberculosis management and it seems they are "outsourcing" the functions of the main T.B. Treatment Centre to regional hospitals. I cannot find all the details of this however. Cairns Hospital already has some tuberculosis treatment functions, and whether this will be expanded to cope with the new risks of imported t.b., I don't know. We are being left without adequate information concerning the biggest risk to the health of Queenslanders in decades. I would like to quote Professor Amanda Lee of Q.U.T. on the Newman Government's attacks on health..."We are seeing the greatest dismantling of public and preventative health services in history." At a time when we are opening our doors wide open to a country where 45% of its citzens are infected with tuberculosis!! Alarm bells should be ringing with a crashing cacophony. Instead our local Members of Parliament are all silent.

ok i fess up when i do the crocodile roll with my chinese guides i kiss no worries but unlike rugnut their girls

Shangai you do the roll the same time the G/ment roll all those Chinese, and the city has had enough of there slaging.

Ole rugnut is off sick apparently. Anyone know what's up? Yeah I heard his dry coughing and scratchy voice.

The stress of having to cover up the total failure of the new council and state government to deliver anything for Cairns got too much for him. No new city place, no CBD revamp, no CEP, endless studies about dredging, pie in the sky plans about developing East Trinity, billion dollar bridges and tunnels, no mass culling of crocodiles and on it goes... All they have come up with so far is the removal of a bike path. Big deal ! Being exposed to the endless, repetitive whining of the regular Hillbillies and the demented rants of the likes of Tenni would make anyone sick.

I love being right! A Jones sponsors are back already -good ole 2UE -money over principles.

Jethro said...

Anonymous, rugnut campaigned for years to "get rid of Labor from Cairns" and he helped the LNP succeed. He has actually enthused on his program about "how good it is" that the LNP now completely dominate the city. He is in his seventh heaven, now he has got exactly what he wanted. The city is going round in circles, with endless "investigations", stalling, procrastinations, never ending monotonous discussions going over and over the same points, with the same issues dragged out years later, like the East Trinity development (Entsch was on about this back in 2000). After a while Mackenzie and co will be casting around for someone to blame for the citys lack of progress and he won't be looking at himself or any of the LNP fuckwits to blame.

bloody pack of Labor thugs all you do is bitch at eveything, bla bla bla

The reason that Townsville is a go ahead City is that they don't have a John Mackenzie complaining daily and political bias commentary. His comments for years now have stopped visitors from coming this way. Bad highway, bad hospital, bad council, bad people who rob and assault, bad service, dirty CBD, crocs., and the complaining continues on and on. It's so boring.

ruby said...

Mackenzie has not been a good ambassador for this city, Anonymous 14.50 above. It's a pity his commercial sponsors haven't woken up to the fact that his continuous negative and histrionic comments about Cairns are a deterrent to potential visitors. By direct comparison, "Locco" talks up the city, praises its good points and its liveability and imparts a very favourable impression of the city at all times.

Anonymous said...

Word is he may not be back....... Not for long if he does return.

John N. said...

It would be hard to assess the damage Mackenzie has done over the decades - I stress DECADES, not years, of painting Cairns as a "violent city" barely under control of the authorities. This alone would have deterred many would be visitors and potential investors. Then there was his campaign against a new hospital and the Entertainment Precinct. Both public facilities would have enhanced the citys liveability and reputation, particularly for investors who look at confident progressive cities to invest in. Looking at his impact on the region over the decades Mackenzie has been at 4CA, he has been like a dead hand clutching the city in a stranglehold and dragging it down and backwards. His own sponsors of his talk-back program would have unquestionably lost money themselves over his continuous negativity. I agree with ruby above, by direct contrast "Locco" talks up the city, highlighting its good points. This is what we need if we want to attract investors.

John N. I have reached the same conclusion re shock jocks in general. They sell negativity, fear. Sky is falling so are very bad for the economy. So wonder why business pay to advertise on a show that is hurting them.

ruby said...

Mackenzie's legacy of decades of talk-back radio is not a good one. He has had one of the most polarising and corrosive influences this city has ever seen. As John N. said above he has forged a false image of Cairns as a violent city, and been a major deterrent to potential investors with his negativity of Cairns as well as his own campaigns against both a new hospital and a new entertainment precinct in Cairns. It will be a relief to see him go and hopefully replaced by someone who understands the importance of talking up a city, not constantly bagging it.

Seth said...

That is the most salient point of all about the impact of "shock jocks" - they ultimately hurt business with their gloom and doom, so why indeed are commercial businesses supporting them? It makes you wonder about the business acumen of those enterprises who do sponsor such programs.

Seth said...

Just a funny incident which happened recently with all the hysteria about Cairns being overrun with crocodiles ...At one of the local resorts recently, staff were called in by two young hysterical American women to come and remove "a baby crocodile" from their room. Well, one of the staff raced to the room and found two scared young women pointing to - yeah, you got it, a gecko! ROFL It's funny enough but the serious side is this is what can happen when shock jocks like Mackenzie deliberately blow up an issue.

Ms Elly-May said...

Let's hope that 4CA Management realise Mackenzie's dead hand impact on Cairns and appoints an announcer who can SELL Cairns on the airwaves. Let's hope they appoint someone who loves and enjoys Cairns and its surrounds, who is out there amongst it all, going here, going there, being involved with this and that. Someone who is physically active in the community for a start. Someone who has a family, so they can understand all the family issues and talk about them. (Steve Ahmat does on radio 4AM). Someone who knows the importance of being a good ambassador for both 4CA, their sponsors and the city of Cairns. Someone who wants the best for the city, someone who wants the city to progress with the WOW factor of impressive public buildings, someone who has FAITH and confidence in our future. Someone who has some EDUCATION and TRAVEL experience and not just Thailand. SOMEONE who doesn't leave us wanting to go out there and slit our throats because life is so grim and hopeless. So how about it Radio 4CA????

Anonymous said...

Miss Elly-May - That SOMEONE sounds a lot like ex Mayor Val! Why not give it a go Val?

Anonymous said...

Wow! As I was reading Miss EM's posting I was thinking -what about a well educated, pleasant, well travelled woman1 Val this is you! But who could blame you for reeling in horror at the thought after your disgusting treatment from 4ca? Cairns needs help!

fitting job for Val now that would put the cat with the turkeys

Ms Elly-May said...

Well, well, well....I agree...VAL is DA WOMAN for the job!! She fits the job description I wrote above perfectly. And unlike Mackenzie, Val has experience in public office!!!! YAY.

You could all have a point. I note Australians are standing up to be counted against sexism and misogynism following the PM's historic speech in Parliament. It could be that the management of 4CA decide they dont want a woman hating old dinosaur whose views echo the dim and dark 1950s any longer.

Anonymous said...

ROFL and pigs will fly. Lies, hate, sexism and racism are sucked up by talk-back radio audiences like oxygen. They love it. Then they wonder why bullying is rife amongst the school kids today and blast the "politicians" with hate filled rants for "causing" it all.
Frankly, I can't see it changing until we have more riots like the Alan Jones incited Cronulla Riots, and more murders. A lot of innocent people will either be killed or maimed before the shock jocks are curbed. There isn't any doubt in my mind that this is where we are heading.

Dean said...

Puleasssee. The rednecks aren't rednecks because of the radio, it's the other way round. 4CA put on rednecks like McKenzie because that's who the rednecks want to listen to. They happen to also be the people that fall for the advertising for the shonky deals, vitamin supplements and funeral insurance that shows like that sell advertising to. It's a generation that was educated while Joh was premier, of course they're simple people.
