PLUMBING THE DEPTHS OF JOHN MACKENIZE'S IGNORANCE, ALONG WITH THE CADRE OF IMMORAL POLITICIANS

With John MacKenzie going on an "extended holiday" of a month or more starting Monday, it's time to review the destruction he's wreaked on Cairns the last couple years.

When Val Schier was first elected Mayor in 2008, an infuriated Cueball MacKenzie who was all-in with mate Kevin Byrne, began a systematic, aggressive, and unfounded pogram of personal attacks on Mayor Schier, her council, council staff, and anyone who could be used to gin up a controversy.  At first as the new council started small, the attacks were small.  But as the vision for Cairns from Mayor Schier became clearer with the proposed Entertainment Precinct, this little man spun out of control.

Some of these issues, seen even by our new Mayor Bob "Sleepy" Manning as nonsensical, are now being rebuffed to the continuing dismay of ol' Cueball.

MACLEOD STREET
MacKenzie blew a gasket when Council professionals, in an effort to streamline traffic patterns in the CBD, removed one lane from Macleod Street outside the Cairns Central.  This allowed a bike lane to be created, and merchants along the street saw positive results on the business performance.

Nevertheless, MacKenzie roared and stamped and used the issue repeatedly against council.  So it came as a big surprise to him (but not to the professionals) that Manning has refused to return the street to its former chaos.  Kapow!  A punch in the mouth to MacKenzie!

CROCS

MacKenzie has been anti-crocodile for years, and took interview opportunities prior to the state election to push his agenda to remove all the crocs from the city.  To get what he wants, Macca will tell bald-faced lies knowing that the Brisbane pollies don't know jack shit about Cairns.  He pushed the idea that the Barron River is now a river in a metropolitan area, ignoring the fact that the large flood plain is still, and likely forever will be cane paddocks.  Despite his pressure on Michael "Backhoe" Trout and the various ministers involved, there has been little movement to do Maccas's bidding on this issue.  Biff!  A kick to the shrivelled groin!

CAIRNS ENTERTAINMENT PRECINCT

This of course was the hillbilly "hot button" issue over the last four years.  Underpinned by extensive planning and the top negotiating skills of Val Schier, Cairns was moments away from having a world-class performing arts centre for a pittance - $57M.  A PITTANCE.  The relentless grinding away by MacKenzie and a handful of callers, packs of lies told by a small group of opponents, the ignorance of the average Cairns voter, along with the political dreams of backbone-less Margaret Cochrane, has seen the EP project cancelled.  Earlier this week a caller to the ABC asked naively, "why haven't Council started building the Entertainment Precinct that was approved by everyone during the last council term"??  Told that the new council killed it, wasting millions in the process, and that there is no hint of any new project after almost a year, she said "so where are my kids going to perform their Eisteddefodd?

This continues to be a shocking moral collapse by Bob Manning, an attack on much of the Cairns community of epic proportions.  Think about it - Manning along with his wife Clare, are known to routinely travel to the southern capitals to see a show, while the citizens of Cairns suffer with the Cairns Shithouse Theater.

Opera Australia, supported by government money, has arranged a high-definition simulcast of the Melbourne production of Madame Butterfly in Queensland on November 29th.  Cairns is seen as such a backarseward community, we are the only regional city in Queensland where this production will NOT be seen!  AYR is getting the broadcast - Cairns is not!

Think about it - places like Ayr, Bundaberg, Gladstone, MacKay - are all seen as having suitable venues for this simulcast.  All are seen has having a population interested in the arts.  Cairns is not.  And despite vociferous complaints to the Mayor's office about this snub to Cairns, he's not lifted a finger of support, or voiced a complaint to his government mates.  Nor has Gavin "Don't Rape Me" King, but that's only because he's too busy being the laughingstock of Shanghai and Guangzhou.  His comments about Chinese people, conveniently translated for our new Chinese mates by this blog, have now gone viral in several big cities.  King has however boasted that he'll soon announce that solely thru his tireless pursuit of opportunities for the region, he's secured another solar eclipse for Cairns.

Of course our wealthy Mayor, who's patterned his public life after his hero Mitt Romney, has no real intention of supporting the arts in Cairns.  Bob and Clare can jet off any day he pleases!  And unlike many previous mayors before him, Bob and Clare routinely ignore the arts performances that ARE being given in Cairns every week, by both adults (Choral Society) and children.  With Sleepy Bob disinterested in anything outside his 9-5 routine, a large part of the Cairns community are now waking up to the fact that Bob Manning, with the able assistance of John MacKenzie, are now running this city for the 1%, and the rest of us can get screwed.  And as long as they keep the beer flowing, and the pokies stripping millions out of the rabble, we'll see the waterfront stolen and handed over to wealthy developers.

Cueball MacKenzie has given everyone their marching orders.   Manning.  James.  King.  Entsch. Trout.  They'll do his bidding, or see the lying machine used to attack them.  All while Cueball's somewhere in south Asia doing what single men in these poor countries do.  That's right, sand and surf.  Right-o.

So far we've seen plans for a "luxury, high end" foreign owned hotel, and a "high end" restaurant planned for the water front.

I had some parents from Ravenshoe ask me recently about future eisteddfods and where were they being held as the Civic Theatre is too small. All I could do was shrug and say "Who knows?" The Entertainment Precinct was of course for the entire region of Far North Queensland, not just for Cairns. Now the regional people like the people from Ravenshoe will all miss out as well.

I'm off to Sydney next week and whilst there have booked to see "Sunset Boulevard", a production by Willoughby Theatre. It will be performed at "The Concorse" entertainment centre at Chatswood. The CEP team were part involved in it's design/construction. They had the usual red neck knockers too, but It's worth visiting their site to see just what is on offer and note what Cairns has missed out on as HBW says for a piddly amount of $57M. Big shame Cairns.

Hillbilly - Cueball I reckon is right about the crocodiles - we do need 'zero tolerance' within the city precincts. So much for successive government policies in this regard - a bloody waste of time. It is only a matter of time before someone is taken from a local beach. If it is a tourist, then something more may be done. If it is a local, as happened in the Daintree some years ago, nothing will be done, but some moron redneck will hunt the croc and submit it to a terribly cruel death. And furthermore, this is the Far North you know and that means footy before the arts huh? What else do you expect? In the meantime, maybe you could think about wearing crash helmets when you go to the Civic Theatre, it may offer a wee bit of protection in the event it starts to come crashing down........at any rate, book seats close to exits I suggest.

I reckon we should have zero tolerance on snakes as well before someone is killed, and bloody spiders - now there's a death waiting to happen. And what's Gavin doing about those jellyfish and deadly flying foxes? And cyclones? And floods. And don't even start me on the dangers that lurk out there on the reef! I tell you there's so much tragedy waiting to happen up here I'm near tempted to pack up and head south where it's less life threatening. By car. Because cars are safer.

A cyclist was crushed to death under the wheels of a garbage truck and the event didn't raise an eyepbow but people are enraged that phantom crocs are walking the streets chewing people up,whats wrong with this place. If a croc was on the Esplanade the whole town would turn out to see it

What's worse the poor bloke was killed in front of Manning's pies. And now Manning wants to rip up bike paths, because according to T.James "speeding" cyclists are dangerous !!!

Another Cairns post favoured serial pest commenter John de Spewville and one of his nasty little redneck comments:
New TB Strain
Close all the borders to all coming with the disease from Papua New Guinea and also coming from these parasites so called refugees from the middle east.

The last of the waterfront land is slowly being given to wealthy developers, with a gift from the ratepayers of Cairns, who will be paying for the headworks. Absolutely bloody amazing isn't it? Thanks to Mackenzie and his rednecked hillbilly supporters, the ratepayers of Cairns will fork out extra for the development of "luxury hotels for foreigners and luxury high-end restaurants". Most locals won't be able to patronise these facilities but their rates will certainly be paying for the headworks.

ruby, you're not the only one who has had people ask where are future Eisteddfods going to be held. It seems to me as if now the Entertainment Precinct is dead and it is obvious that a new performing arts theatre is not on the table during the Manning Council's term, people are starting to panic. Frankly, I think it now up to the Eisteddfod Committee to arrange accommodations all over the region on different days at different venues. No it isn't ideal, and they will be forced to keep on finding alternative accommodations as the numbers of children participating grows steadily each year.

Speaking of "immoral" politicians - this from Clive Palmer in The Australian newspaper 9/11/2012

"When you make a stand against corruption, immorality and debauchery, you have to expect that people will be out to get you..."

HMMMMMMM. Well, we know about the corruption and immorality...now come on Clive, don't be coy, give us the goss on this "debauchery".

That'd be right .... turning the eclipse into an annual event was my idea before the last state election and was ignored by all parties even Bob Katter who is normally so sensible! Soooo typical of King to pinch the idea now!

De Spewville is Le Pen's illegitimate love child. He likes exposing his ignorance for all to see.

Australia has an international treaty with PNG regarding movement between certain islands. PNG is also our nearest neighbour and we owe them a great debt for their help during WWII. Not that that nasty little frog would know anything about that. The real problem is the closure of the TB clinics by that other nasty little man , CAN'T DO Newman.

Refugees get checked for health issues. That's one of the reasons why they are kept in detention initially.

Then there is the issue of Chinese tourists , other travellers (incl. Australians) who have been in countries where TB is rife. Not to mention those who bring back nasty social deseass from certain cheap Asian destinations.

I was going to point all that out to the nasty little weasel, but what's the point ? Better ignore the grubby little troll rather than giving him more oxygen in the CP.

Crockpot,Silverbeet, the Clam and Spewville, the nasty quartet with toxic Tenni as the conductor. And the CP is loving it and keeps publishing their vile, ignorant crap.

Anonymous 20.08, I saw those comments of de Spewville's too, and like you didn't feel any urge to enlighten him. Yes, we are safe from the "boat people refugees" who are kept away from us for months and months, not so the Chinese tourists who will be flocking here soon in their tens of thousands.

While rugnut is away enjoying his recreation in Thailand, sand and surf, lapping up the religion, admiring the temples and so on like all single Australian males do, we will be spared the revolting efforts of the ridiculously naive Pearl, flirting away and trying to be coquettish with old rugnut.

Anonymous said...

The Pearl will soon have a bootcamp to deal with. She is already screaming for "compensation". She'll soon find out that Rug nut, King & Co. didn't give a stuff about her and that she was just a tool in the plot to derail the CEP. Reap what you have sowed Pearl !

Anonymous said...

Maybe Pearl has gone to Thailand too!

ruby said...

She doesn't realise what a choice pearl of a fool she is.

Anonymous said...

Pearl is a swine ! Months ago she was bragging about her connections in legal circles and how she was going to sue people and shut this site down. And now she will end up with a boot camp, courtesy of her beloved LNP, which is already falling apart amidst allegations of cronyism, corruption and incompetence.!

Anonymous said...

HBW you summed the CEP fiasco perfectly, will go down in history as Cairns biggest folly if not built on the original site and also public owned and controlled.

I had the misfortune to come across Tenni in public once. Up he walks with his walking stick, no social niceties like "Hello, I'm Martin Tenni" or anything. Instead he launched straight into a long ugly rant about Anna Bligh. Frankly, I thought he was a looney.

Anonymous said...

I agree with you about Tenni. A rude, vile human specimen who has never done an honest day's work in his miserable life. Likes to big note himself as a former minister, in what we now know was probably the most corrupt government ever seen in the Westminster System.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, I had never come across the man, never knew him from Joh Blow in my life, and up he walks and starts this rant. I had to ask someone who the fuck was that?

Anonymous said...

McKenzie and King adore this shameless, virulent pest, who keeps telling Manning and King what a good job they are doing..why isn't he in jail ???

Anonymous said...

Only the unlucky corrupt politicians go to jail Anonymous 14:39. If they were all caught this country would go broke accommodating them at her Majesty's pleasure.

It seems to me that all these exercises are not undertaken to developed or create needed infrastructures to our city but rather are just a ponzi schemes to waste public money in feasibility studies, accounting and advertising propaganda. As yet again we got nothing to show!!!!!!
