ANOTHER MACKENZIE LIE DEBUNKED AS POLICE CAMERAS SHOWN TO GENERATE RESPONSE DURING THE ACT - SO WHEN DOES MACKENZIE APOLOGISE?

One continual lie continually repeated by John "Cueball" MacKenzie to attack the previous Bligh government as well as former Mayor Val Schier was that "the cameras aren't monitored, and as a result they're only used after a crime has occurred.

We were advised by the Queensland Police months ago that they advised MacKenzie that this was untrue.  He persisted in the lie.

Mayor Schier's office advised MacKenzie that this was untrue.  He persisted.

When an incident at Ipswich that police caught "in the act" was pointed to as "how a good mayor uses the camera system", we understand Paul Pisale told the media that the police turned up as part of their routine and not as a result of the camera.  MacKenzie, undaunted by the facts, continued his attack on the Cairns Council and the camera operations in the CBD.

However today we find out that a sexual assault of a teenager by a previously convicted rapist and felon was stopped during early morning hours by - THE CBD CAMERA SYSTEM AND THE COUNCIL EMPLOYEE MONITORING IT!  As John MacKenzie has been told all along!

And this incident occurred on February 5, 2012 - long before either the state or council elections.

Richie Bates has commented that "a lot of people think the CCTV footage is only useful the crime has been committed, but it's being used proactively as well and these cases prove it".  And yet Bates allowed MacKenzie to repeat this falsehood earlier this year during a phone call, and the incorrect information was perpetuated still further.

The victim of this crime, said in the record to have been "intoxicated", was apparently not aware of the "special" sexual assault policy in Cairns set by our new MP Gavin "Don't Rape Me" King.  We're all waiting for King's attack on this victim who in his sickening, twisted view should be held partially responsible for her own attack.  What did she do wrong, Gavin? Drinking in a licenced establishment - wasn't she safe there?  Letting a sexual predator talk her into leaving?  Please oh please Gavin, tell us how this teenage girl was "partially responsible" for this incident!!!

In due course King's own daughter will be of drinking age; let's hope he at least holds some compassion for her.  He surely doesn't care about cases like this.

You're spot on here HBW. I recall the lies and shit Mackenzie spruiked on this. You will also find the likes of King and his supporters are very fast and hard at judging others for their misfortune, however when it comes to themselves or their families, it is a very very different matter. This is a unifying characteristic of the conservative far right. They are judgemental, narrw minded, hard hearted to the point of barbaric towards society as a whole, but passionately believe in different rules for themselves and their families. They are unable to understand their own perverse hypocracy. For them, it is never, "do as I do". It is always "do as I say."

I remember Cueball's continual bleating on this subject. He couldn't understand why groups of aboriginal teens weren't being "intercepted" by the police when seen on the cameras. And now we find out that they're being used proactively and responsibly. More disgraceful evidence that MacKenzie is a toxic voice in the community,

rugnut went to town with all the lies abut this and used it as an issue against the previous Mayor. The hillbillies out there believed him. He just makes his shit up and then finds a convenient person to blame.

geez, cut Richie Bates some slack here will you. Ever phoned Mackenzie and had him cut right into you speaking, when he decides to take over the conversation, to bore it up someone and blame them for everything? You can't speak for several miniutes or like half an hour while rugnut rants on and on. He isnt polite and doesnt bother listening.

rugnut has been ranting about 'aboriginal and Torres Strait teens" now for several decades. Its one of his ever favorite topics and he only ever talks to the one person about any ATSI issue - that Noel Pearson. It drives most ATSI peoples wild because they are quck to point out "Pearson don't speak for me!"

Politicians should not go on his show, if they do and get mis-represented then their choice. he does not help democracy, quite the reverse.

Slightly off topic but did anyone else fall about laughing at page 2 of today's CP? As I read it -Cando was in town yesterday to welcome with open arms, to quote Cando -"probably one of the most powerful women in the world" She is a very high-ranking member of the Chinese Govt here for a short visit to suss out Cairns as a tourist destination. The incredible thing is that there is NO MAYOR/NO State MP just the Premier -see the photo and read the article. Does this mean that our tourist promoting Mayor is still in Beijing watching the Mikado? and where is Mr King the Asst Minister for Tourism???? I stand to be corrected on any of this of course!

McKenzie once reported a crime in Sydney where a teenage mum was "allegedly" robbed by a screwdriver yielding junkie and her pram was kicked over in the process. The phones went in overdrive the rest of the morning as one redneck after the other demanded flogging, the death penalty etc. etc. Turned out the next day that the 'victim" had completely invented the story. There was no robbery, no junkie and no screwdriver. No one bothered to check the facts first and of course there was no retraction or apology. He simply acted as if it never happened.

Sadly more of the same on King. But the fact is we are stuck with him for one term. The Cairns electorate, now having seen his (non) performance, doesn't want him (never did, but let their collective anger overrule commonsense), Newman doesn't want or need him, being just another useless irrelevant member from an irrelevant corner of the Can-do empire. McKenzie is different; he won't get voted out, but we have the pleasure of knowing he will soon slip into obscurity. As his ever-diminishing and aging redneck listeners move to nursing homes and/or the grave, the economics of his program will soon dictate that it not be worth turning on the studio lights.

Further to the Madame Liu visit yesterday, there is no online Cairns Post mention of her visit in spite of it appearing on page 2 of that august journal. What is going on with Cando and Mr King?? Why did the Premier not mention our local member in this article? Keeping him safely out of the way perhaps?

It is sad for Gav King that this has not turned out to be the stepping-stone to the illustrious political career he thought it would. King's massive ego would have seen him imagining a meteoric rise in the political ranks - in the same way he thought he was a brilliant journalist instead of just a carping hack. In a couple of short years, he will have to pick up the threads of a career again, though journalists such as he are already a dime a dozen, and there'll be no open doors at News Ltd.
Could I suggest lotto Gavin? Hopefully you may have more luck than you have talents.

According to King's FB he was right there, unless all the pictures were fabrications ? Crticise as much as you like, bbut don't tell lies. We can leave that to the LNP.

King is busy at the moment using fear tactics and firing up the misogynistic underbelly of the rednecks and hillbillies by making out "Julia Gillard" (not the Federal Government) wants the States to privatise their electricity assets.
His half witted supporters will suck this up without question, not knowing that the States own electricity assets and only the States can sell them off. Moreover "Julia Gillard" is not the Federal Government and can't tell the States what to do.

What's the betting that Mackenzie will take this lie up about selling off the State's electricity assets when he returns and will ram it down peoples throats for the next few months. Here we go again. Once again he will play upon and exploit the misogynism of the hillbillies by only referring to the Federal Government as "Julia Gillard". It's all too easy to deceive the bogans isn't it?

anon 8:32. It is no big deal, but according to the CP today, King was actually there....

So what was he doing if he was there? Carrying the drinks? Fluffing the pillows? Washing Captain Campbell's feet?

"King's massive ego would have seen him imagining a meteoric rise in the political ranks - "
How often have I wondered if King didn't deliberately offer up the funding for the Entertainment Precinct back to Newman in the hope of personal self-advancement? It wouldn't be the first time an ambitious political animal has screwed their electors in this way.

Apparently Mr King's rape theory has some support in the extreme right whack jobs in US legal fraternity http://www.independent.ie/world-news/americas/outrage-as-rape-case-judge-tells-victim-if-she-didnt-want-sex-her-body-should-have-just-shut-down-3326182.html

Anonymous, you could be right. This type of underhand "negotiations" isn't unique in Australian politics. However the issue of a new performing arts theatre for Cairns has not run its course yet. As a political issue, it has a lot of power to influence the voter particularly in an area where there is a good proportion of "rednecks" who traditionally are very hostile to the arts. Oooh, it ain't over yet.

On the reporting of the Madame Liu visit, it seems, at least from reading its website, that the Cairns Post ran an article on Friday, immediately after the visit that failed to mention Gavin King and a second article on Saturday that did mention him. Looks like the CP reads HBW and is happy to give GK a boost.

On the other hand, and correct me if I am wrong, it has still failed to cover the Team Wild controversy in spite of it being mentioned in State Parliament by Curtis Pitt and then on GK's Facebook where he attacked Pitt (although failing to refute the allegations.) Quite a different tack from its treatment of the Lyons House issue.

The Cairns Post has also failed to cover the community garden issue.

There seem to be very selective standards for news down at Abbott Street.

T. Asquith said...

The Cairns Post does not report the problem issues of Cairns because it is itself is one of the problems. It is a partisan biased organ which selectively reports and comments only to suit its own agenda. Even when it is forced to report anything politically 'controversial', the 'hard' obvious questions are always conveniently avoided.
Before such sources as HBW, we would be blissfully ignorant of all the issues it chooses to ignore - one reason that has allowed the parochial redneck bogan culture to fester here. Example: Where else would a drunken windbag like Entsch succeed in getting elected into federal politics? Then, after participating in the financial disgrace that was CEC, be elected back for a further slurp at the public trough? Where else could that disgusting piece of humanity, Freebody, become the endorsed candidate for Cairns until he stupidly thought we were more stupid than he ("it was the kids") and even the LNP were forced to reconsider? Where else would he then be replaced by a candidate so compromised by his own ignorant opinion pieces that they will haunt him throughout his (brief) political life? Where else would a doddering old incompetent such as Manning and his Unity group of spoilers make it into office with the sole agenda of reversing of one of the most progressive projects this city has ever proposed, a project that was approved at a properly constituted Council meeting and shovel-ready to go (tearing up the bike path, because cyclist equal Val Shier, was only a spiteful afterthought, though gifting the cost of headworks to developers at huge ratepayer expense was definitely not)?
Change will come. I try to help it along with little actions of my own: Never buy The Cairns Post - not even on Thursdays (the TV guide is on the web). If I listen to McKenzie (rarely, and only to keep abreast of his delusional rantings) I note his advertisers and avoid giving them my business. Little by little, I hope these actions by me and like-minded others will send them towards irrelevance.

Cairns Post and standards? You must be joking. I mean they can,t put a sentence together without demonstrating what a bunch of illiterate bogans they are. From this weekend.s dunny paper:

"They are one of the world,s most invasive pests and have caused widespread problems since arriving in North Queensland, but researchers may have finally found a way to stop the spreads of cane toads."

The hilarious image this piece of idiocy conjures up more than makes up for the crap elsewhere in its pages.

Take for example the deceitful rant on page 11 taking a mainstream media issue (the unethical, irresponsible and juvenile "prank" call that resulted in the suicide of the nurse involved) and turning it into an attack on social media.

This is a typical piece of trickery by the Murdoch gutter press to divert attention away from its own manifest failings (vide the Cairns Post) and the failings of the mainstream media.

What any objective, honest and reasonable journalist should be talking about are the failings of the mainstream media that caused this death.

Instead, the public interest is trashed and the interest of Rupert Murdoch,s notoriously dishonest, law-breaking, irresponsible and unethical empire is substituted in its place.

The only arena where at least some honest debate occurs about media values and media roles is in social media.

We certainly don,t get it in filthy Murdoch rags like the Cairns Post.

According to the CP, our local "whip" had prior knowledge of the Slipper affair. Combined with the recent diu conviction this might explain his recent low profile.

King dominated Mackenzie's program on Monday as predicted. However it contained an interesting interlude when Shorty phoned complaining about Telstra's new billing methods whereby Telstra no long list all the phone calls you have made during the billing period, on your bill notice. Mackenzie chuckled along like it was a great joke. People have forgotten that this bastard supported the privatisation of Telstra by John Howard.

ruby said...

Mackenzie supported the privatisation of Telstra, as he supported everything John Howard did including the illegal invasion of Iraq. I recall in 2003 trying to inform Mackenzie on his program that it was highly unlikely Saddam had those "weapons of mass destruction". He rudely and angrily cut me off and made a fuckwit of himself by believing everything that Howard and Bush spewed up. I have never tried phoning rugnut's program again. I note yesterday he was bullshitting about how "courageous" it was of Howard to bring in the anti-gun laws in Australia. "Courageous"?? Bullshit. Australians have never ever had the same relationship with guns that Americans have had. The public reaction was very mild in most places around Australia.

Anonymous said...

Ruby, I am no John Howard supporter but have to disagree with your statement that it was not a courageous act to enforce his buy-back policy following the Port Arthur tragedy. I remember JH appearing at a huge, vocal gun supporters gathering wearing a bulletproof jacket (although it was not publicised til later). I thought his stance was brave and note that his example is now being quoted in US press.
JH however, lost me completely over the Iraq fiasco.

Anonymous said...

who is shorty another frenzy rugnut who makes no sense at all

Anonymous said...

Anonymous 12.47, to try and compare Australia and the USA on gun ownership is just idiotic. Australians have NEVER ever had the same relationship with guns as Americans have had. Why? Because our society is very very different. We have had a sound welfare system for several decades offering up a safety net for people without income. This has effectively prevented the development and nurturing of entrenched crime as a means of support. We just don't have the same amount of crime here thus we never had the need for people to get guns to defend themselves as they do in the USA. Furthermore, we in Australia have always had far better mental health (and health overall) resources than the USA. Yes we do have crazies wondering around loose in the community, but far fewer than the USA, and our crazies are more likely to get assessment or treatment than if they were in the USA. Lastly, Howard "courageous"? Rubbish, all the polls at the time showed Australians were mostly in favour. It didn't even register a blimp at the following election.

Shorty no doubt voted for John Howard and the privatisation of Telstra so he deserves what he gets.
