PAUL FREEBODY THREATENS RENEWED POLITICAL FUTURE AS CAR WASH AND WATERPARK VENTURES FOUNDER

Cairns' most prolific self-promoter is former Cairns City councillor and former LNP candidate for Cairns Paul Freebody.  In the news again this week.

After famously losing his Council seat to a 22 year old WOMAN (the SHAME!!), calling female Cairns councillors "witches and bitches" on the Cueball radio show for imposing conditions on his waterpark proposal, being dis-endorsed by Joh Bjelke Newman for threats against our female Prime Minister, and having a family associated with a still-active "We Hate Val Schier" Facebook page, you'd think a smart man would have changed his name to Jeffrey Dahmer and moved elsewhere.  Any investor in a Freebody scheme would be shocked at the image this family has managed to garner.

But no, the Freebody's are at it again, this week again offering to sell their "Five Star Carwash Cafe".  And again the offer is replete with conditions that many purchasers would find onerous, like the "leaseback" situation.  Potential purchasers would also be put off about Freebody's previous tactics including the secret recording of LNP officials - a "get square" that misfired badly for Freebody.

This troubled car wash business has seen operators come and go, with this "great idea" stymied by the fact that Cairns isn't the kind of town where people fork out $30 for what they can do themselves.  And with copies of the business records floating around town since August of 2006, many seasoned business operators have looked, and passed.

We're assured it's "environmentally friendly" - which is disputed by residents on Reservoir Road who can't understand why he's allowed to illegally park a truck with advertising on the street, blocking their view of oncoming traffic.

While Freebody continues to assure Cairns that we'll get a waterpark "as soon as I can tick all the boxes", another year gone with no watermark underscores the difficulty of being in business with Paul Freebody.  Reports continue that he's planning another tilt at politics - witches and bitches be damned.

A caller on McKenzies show said that he had been "bitching" ("excuse the pun, hahaha!") for years to Val Schier and Anna Bligh about something or other. Manning and McKenzie both obliged by giggling and sniggering at this extremely not-funny word play. What a bunch of can --do-nothing wankers. The line up at today's talk to the Mayor : Pearl (please fuck off, Cairns doesn't want you), Raj, Tenni, the cabbie with the shocking voice and another couple of regulars. Manning will do nothing. He is not revisiting the one-laning of Mcleod St (even though Terry James has said it is only a matter of time), he will do nothing about the airport link and he wants the CEP to be built by private enterprise, so CRC can lease it back.

The Carwash Song (with due deference to Rose Royce):-

Woo
You might not ever get rich
But let me tell ya it's better than diggin' a ditch
For a Waterworld that ain't gonna happen
Or a 'Can Do' ticket that was cruelly shat on

Workin' at the car wash yeah !
Come on and sing it with me car wash.
Get with the feelin' y'all car wash yeah.

Come summer the work gets kind of hard
This ain't no place to be if ya planned on being a star.
Let me tell you it's always so cruel
But the boss don't mind sometimes if ya act a fool.

At the car wash
Talkin' about the car wash yeah!
Come on and sing it for me car wash.
Car wash yeah!

(Work and work) Well those cars seem to stop comin'.
(Work and work) Stops them brushes from hummin'
(Work and work) my fingers to the bone
(Work) at five I can't wait 'til it's time to go home
Hey
PLEASE get your car washed today.
Fill up and you don't have to pay.
Come on and give us a go.
Buy a carwash right away.

I agree Shanghai. He was more value to the country than Simon Crean ever was.

P.S. Hope your stalker has something intelligent to say.

Freebody has an illusory self-image as a Cairns mover and shaker. Reality is Cairns Biggest Loser. Car wash is a dud and only another idiot like him would take it on - and he can't find one. Water-park is swampland in a large river flood plain (water park indeed!). Bought it for a song, and now couldn't give it away.
A city councillor; his division taken from him by a kid just out of school. Endorsed candidate for LNP to run in an un loseable landslide election, but couldn't keep his foot out of his mouth - then lied to avoid the consequences.
For those who like to laugh at such pompous idiots, he is a gift of humour which keeps on giving. Thank you Paul, you're a legend.

WTF Shanghai did you say Martin has a brother and is 20 years old and he is angry because he's not a cheer leader, and he can't count

Manning is Mackenzie's bitch surely? Or is that King because he's the fresher meat?

Obviously Shanghai, judging by the comments @ 20:20 your stalker didn't have anything intelligent to say.

Anonymous 09.39, was that all about Newman's privatisation of Queensland's free hospital scheme? See where he has privatised another hospital.

Anonymous said...

Off the subject but I notice the LNP are having a bash at the Pier hotel and calling it "the we made history bash".I am assuming they are clinging to the belief that they broke the labour record of 100 years in government in Cairns. Please be reminded that Lou Barnes was independent Labour 1942-47.If he was Labour as the LNP says how come Labour beat him for the seat in 1947.King is the first non labour or independent since 1947.The end

Just had a survey phonecall asking how I felt about privatisation of both hospitals and electricity -the LNP push is on -an Abbott Govt will privatise both these entities you can bet your bottom dollar.

KitchenSlut said...

Anonymous, your phone call is actually most likely the #Megapoll being conducted currently by Together Queensland union which Campbell Newman has claimed is push polling ..... which makes your comment interesting! Refer to inimitable polling marsupial Possum Comitatus @pollytics on twitter for updates!

Mar'n is a resources industry suckhole, so good riddance to bad rubbish. Never lifted a finger when asked to help my union when Rupert Hitler and his big business mates attacked us. Not that the other ALP mob are any better.

Well said Anonymous 17.54. King has persisted in making the false claim of "100 years of Labor in Cairns" to sound good and to bolster his immense ego. Barnes was an Independent. Ray Jones, the former Member of Parliament told me the ALP had ceased to exist in Cairns during the war years with so many men away at war, and their families evacuated to Southern centres. "Those of us who remained," said Ray, who was a young teenager at the time, "just got on with keeping the town going and involved ourselves with the war effort. There wasn't any time for politics." Gavin King, is therefore the first non-Labor member for Cairns since 1947. To claim otherwise is bullshit.

Wowsers, this is really important stuff Alison. When did the soon to be extinct ALP last not win the seat of Cairns. In a decade the question will be "Mummy, what's the ALP?". "Nothing dear".

Alison Alloway said...

Anonymous 13.27, it confirms that King is a habitual liar full of himself and bullshit.

KitchebnSlut, I believe the poll conducted by the Together Union has finished, and revealed an overwhelming number of Queenslanders opposed to any more privatisation. I believe this latest poll is being conducted by the Newman Government as Newman didn't believe the results of the Together Union poling. Privatisation is still ongoing however, with yet another hospital being privatised.

KitchenSlut said...

Ruby, I think the Together Union poll was actually in full swing on Saturday as in that nights tweet from Possum Comitatus:

"Possum Comitatus ‏@Pollytics 22h
Folks asked why we started #Megapoll today instead of waiting for fed stuff to clear - see Galaxy. No one gives a shit about no change"

Possum aka Scott Steele is Economist for Together Queensland and close to the smartest wonk commentator I am aware of so presume he knows what is going on given he is the brains behind the Together polling. I can't recommend any other twitter follow more highly!

Possum did respond that the suggestion of LNP polling had not been unusual on Saturday so that doesn't mean they were the only ones polling. The Together poll has made much of its large sample size.

anon13.27 if you and wanking believe Labor are gone you really need to take a hard look at yourself ,if being a wanking groupie gives you a high then king and you are a bigger liars than drisscoll, watch the courior mail next week

Hi Ruby -I subscribe to Crikey -Poss Com is a regular there -I took out the subscription to try to counter the all-over Murdoch saturation of local press. Crikey is worth a look altho there is a cost involved.

Anon 13.27, somehow I doubt the Labor Party will become extinct. The few social gatherings of Laborites I get around to attending these days seem to have a whole heap of new faces amongst the usual suspects. It is Australia's oldest political party, and will survive no matter what the Murdoch media throw at it.
Campbell Newman is probably the best thing the ALP have going for it in Queensland. He's a worse kettle of fish than old Joh was. I read where the State run aged persons home at Kingaroy was closed down the other day by the Newman Government. This is the sort of thing that old Joh would never do, close down State run nursing homes. I know old Flo used to regularly visit this home and take her home cooked cakes and scones along for the residents.

Jethro, I agree with your analysis. The current LNP are heavily influenced by neo-liberalism ideology, reducing the role of government in providing services, reducing welfare and operating government as a business. I fear the shit is going to hit the fan in a huge way with the passing of a short period of time. There is nothing we can tell LNP voters however what is going to happen. They truly and sincerely believe for example that when you cut the dole off from someone, that miraculously that person will have a job the following day. We cannot caution them otherwise because they don't understand. Nor can they understand that when you privatise hospitals and their services like pathology and pharmaceuticals that many people will not be able to afford health care. They don't understand this, nor do they understand the consequences. Above all they don't want to know. I was trying to explain to some LNP woman that our aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for example will not be able to afford health care, thus will be excluded from seeking medical help for whatever reasons. That would mean a lot of aboriginal and torres strait islander people would die. Women would die in child birth, babies wuld die. People would die from accidents. The woman told me she didn't "want to hear it." Then she said, "It's not MY fault if people don't have money to pay, is it??" She couldn't see at all that in a society like Australia, that everyone should have access to health care, as a basic human right.

There are many forms of capitalism. The neo conservative capitalist creed believes in a poorly paid underclass/middleclass to harvest their profits from, therefore everything must be privatised to reduce taxation and deregulated to maximise those profits. The best example of this religion at work of course is the US, and isn't that working well at the moment?

Hoof Hearted said...

Ruby ... most of the dickheads that need "access to health care, as a basic human right" either smoke too much, each too much, eat the wrong foods or drink too much. Not to mention other illegal substances.

Ginger TheRedHeeler said...

Hoof Hearted (Hard-hearted more like), are you kidding me?

If you can't afford to pay thousands of dollars just to stay overnight in hospital for observation after a car accident etc. then it is obviously your own fault and you smoke too much?

Damn, I knew it was my fault I was not born to Gina Rinehart's parents.

Damn, I knew I could have had $1,000s saved in an emergency medical account if only I had sold my kids to sex traffickers instead of paying for them to go to school.
