TWO TEENS ARRESTED AFTER ESCAPING FROM KURANDA YOUTH JUSTICE RESIDENCE, THREATEN 59-YEAR OLD WOMAN WITH KNIFE

The only "investigation" necessary is why our MP's Gavin "Don't Rape Me" King and Michael "Hide the Backhoe" Trout have failed so miserably with the so-called boot camp.  Stupid useless fuckers, these two are.

And to think I said it wouldn't work there and it was a complete stuff up. I even offered the stupid bastards my personal crystal ball and said I would chuck in some tarot cards for extra help.Bloody dickheads.

An enquiry into the tender process will reveal the why the boot business is so dysfunctional. How did Safe Pathways with no facility and no experience win a $2 million tender? King and Trout need to start showing accountability

Mick said...

After one year of dragging Cairns backwards King can now add this to his growing list of political 'successes' -no smoking signs/ bring Ussain Bolt to Cairns/ let's destroy our chance of a world class entertainment precinct.... I'm sure others can add to this list.

Is this a joke in poor taste or a true report? Why no day/date? I am not familiar with this type of report so please tell me I am wrong to be suspicious.

Anonymous said...

OMG HBW! Sorry! I have just read same report in CP online! It didn't take long to fall into a hole did it. The residents who were vilified as NIMBYs are vindicated.

Maybe Trout or King will let the young folk stay with them, they are obviously just misunderstood victimsof our oppressive rules and regulations. They might be able to prune a hedge or two with the obvious skills they have with sharp implements. Boot camp does not equal 4 bedroom comfort in Su urbia dickheads...

Why in hells name was this Boot Camp ever located in a residential area? Who chose the site? Why were there only two adults there at the time and why couldn't they control the kids? If they want a bloody fair dinkum boot camp, situate it out in the sticks somewhere, and make sure it is well staffed. Lastly what's wrong with plastic cutlery, or locking the kitchen up? What a bloody schmozzle.

Bob R. said...

After this incident, the boot house should be shut down and a new location well away from residential areas should be found. This time no-one was hurt, next time, some kid could hurt someone. I bet the people at Kuranda are all up in arms and I can't blame them. Whoever is in charge, don't take any more chances. These kids aren't Christopher Robin and Pooh bear.

Sir Cus. said...

Well it was only ever a Election gimmick by Newman LNP ,local Members King and Trout just irrelevant.

The chickens coming home to roost will be more of a headache than the bat population. And they won't be scared away by a bit of noise and flashing lights.

Shut the house down now.

Just heard Mackenzie try and blame "the public servants from the days of Labor" for making the decisions on the Boot Camp. He's praising up Trout all the time. "Ken" at Redlynch just called in and reminded him that there was an empty wing at Lotus Glen. King then called and Mackenzie deftly took control of the issue of closing down the facility immediately by saying "Oh we won't ask you to contact the Premier to close it down."

Anonymous said...

King's comment on radio this morning : "there has been much third hand information and speculation about it from people who don't know anything about the program".

How the hell did these kids get a weapon - are knives, scissors etc not locked up?

How can two hand picked low risk youth breach all protocols in the first cohort?

The next step is clear:

It was a trial
It has failed
Close it down

Just listening to Todd someone, the CEO of Choice, who was one of the tenderers for the Boot Camp, on the Mackenzie program. He said his organisation has been dealing with juvenile offenders since 2004. He believes the tendering process was not open and transparent and believes his organisation was wiped because of its previous relationship with Labor Governments.

Liz said...

One thing to bear in mind. I hear people talking about "rehabilitating" the kids, as if they are ALL basically good kids gone a little off the tracks. Sure, a lot of kids will just need teaching boundaries of behaviour etc, however let there be no doubt, no misunderstanding whatsoever that SOME of these kids would have psychiatric issues, such as sociopathy. These are dangerous young people, don't ever doubt it.

Did anyone else hear Kings throwaway line that a third person in the house had been returned to his family as "his brother committed suicide last weekend"? MacKenzie made no comment at all at this tragic piece of news. We could speculate that this was the trigger for the other unfortunate actions. We send our love to the woman in Kuranda who was the victim of this horrible act and McKs urging of Trout to go and comfort her may not be viewed with much sincerity after the public meeting in Kuranda. Who would want to be comforted by the very Govt that caused the situation in the first place! Pathetic.

It should be closed down immediately before someone gets seriously hurt next time.

Me thinks the point that Todd from Woree was making was the tender process was not considered open and transparent as the submission centred on experience and access to a facility. He says the provider has no experience, did not have the staff or the facility. Despite what is sour grapes from this fellow I do wonder how you would win a government contract if you had no experience, staff or residential facility to start in January.

Confusing or political tender process it sounds like.

Just before this boot place opened, a lady stepped up to a counter at a health food shop in Smithfield shopping centre and said to the attendant, do you have any thing to keep me awake at night as I have to stay awake and watch the kids at the boot camp . Now that is from a very reliable person I know. Just makes me wonder what qualifications these people have, if any.

King and Trout will not give a flying fuck about any of this, they have learned that they can now get away with any fuck up with the help of the only newspaper in the region, that scumbag old mckenzie and old Rip Van Manning.\n It's just diabolical what is happening to this once happy vibrant city with all these unskilled rabble running the place. The problem is there is no way of putting pressure on these people, down south they have Crikey, Get Up and others who run specific campaigns to highlight these idiots to the public and in a lot of cases ,very succesfully. You do a great job HBW and we need more ideas to compliment your blog.
The one good thing about this is that the Hillbillies already think that the BOOTCAMP is more of a Spa affair and seeing as though they have not been allowed to cull the Croc's or the bats yet they might want to cull King or Trout.

Anonymous said...

King and Trout should be detained!

Anonymous said...

The staff and management of the organisation could probably do with a little more training and up-skilling in working with young offenders and dealing with potentially difficult situations..... It was offered by a number of people.... on a number of occasions...

Anonymous said...

As Gavin King has said in the media"The LNP couldn't organize a school tuck shop" This just confirms it.

Anonymous said...

Mckenzie was livid with rage this morning, especially because he couldn't get hold of anyone. He said he was being black-listed, but lo and behold the 3 local members called in one after the other to report back to the puppet master. He then spent the rest of the morning trying to shield Trout especially from any fall-out and trying to blame Labor public servants instead. Why ? This has happened on the LNP's watch. Despite all the warnings King has forged ahead with this stupid venture. He should take full responsibility and so should the "there is no rape in jail" Attorney General.

The Boot House has been closed indefinitely. What a fiasco !

Hooray. Now set it up way out of town somewhere.

You're all so mean and cruel to me. You're not as mean and cruel to Trouty or Kempton are you? Noooo. Just me. Well I've closed the boot camp down haven't I? And Im having an urgent meeting with the Attorney General this week as well. You're all so quick to criticize and whinge, whinge, whinge all the time, you pinkos and greens. You all make me sick.

In one paragraph you have summed up 3 hours of broadcasting. Those who tuned in had to endure 180 minutes of crap. Maybe the federal government should examine the use of the broadcasting spectrum more closely. How many complaints does ACMA need before they examine the blatant undenied bias of this radio program. Who can determine if there is an 'arrangement' with a political party, either over the table with management - or under the table with the presenter? It appears ACMA has no jurisdiction to examine financial transactions.

nothing so far in the comments section of cairns post re this debacle. In fact no comments at all have been updated. This rag is obviously bleeding....hence the rubbish 'were with you" and the recent attempt to tell us all about their wonderful staff who are doing such a good job for cairns. You dont need to be a rhodes scholar to see that their sales have obviously dropped substantially. Crap reporting of fluff, lnp bias, the townsville link have all eroded their sales and its only going to get worse as blogs like this one do what they are supposed to do...inform the public. Speaking of rhodes scholars, interesting to note that one tony abbotts troubles with the courts are not being aired by any media and neither is ashbygate getting any airing. From the media or the federal police who are sitting on the investigation into various lnp figures potential involvement in this case. Certainly the judge who threw out ashbys case against peter slipper made it quite clear that he believed hard questions needed to be asked.

Also, did I hear correctly? Did the Member for Cairns actually call it an Indigenous Boot Camp on 4CA-LNP?

Bazza said...

It would be interesting to know who the previous owner was of this property considering the time frame of notification to the community and no application to the council to operate a facility like this. A open enquiry is required now to inform all of Qld what a shambles this situation is and to show that this gov has no idea about anything.

Mark Davis said...

so it's closed. on what grounds? if incompetence, or breach of contract, as the evidence seems to suggest, then is the state going to sue for that breach of contract? that was our money being used to arrange all this. is there going to be an investigation into the bona fides, qualifications and performance of the company, its executives and staff?

I might add that these are questions that should be asked by a responsible media outlet, one with the public interest at heart.

It is disappointing to see the Cairns Post becoming such a pale imitation of its former self.

Jan from Kewarra said...

I think the only mistake, the Govt made was calling it a Boot Camp.

Clearly, it should have been called "Scoot Camp"!

for those who believe the cairns post is lnp biased and full of dribble then look no further than this mornings online comments. There are 11 comments printed on how to get bat poo off your car and 5 comments on the catholic churches attempt to build a school in a park. Yesterdays article on the boot camp has disappeared and not one comment printed! Its a joke...but not very funny. Kings mates in the cairns post strike again.

Anonymous said...

So how much is this costing us? The house, the staff, the furnishings, the knife etc. What a shambles but expected from LNP up here.

Anonymous said...

Fortunately we are back on crocodile bashing today as the shielding of Trouty and King from any blame for the bootcamp continues unabated. Even Entsch chipped in on the ABC, so obviously this is a coordinated campaign. No one "up here" is to blame, it is down to those people in the South East. Anyway, enough of that. It is the baby snatching crocs that are the main threat to life as we know it.

Just checked this morning. The comments section of The Cairns Post online still hasn't been updated.

The minister says to toupee ken ze the brief from safe pathways was alarming and he has issued a show cause notice. Look at the tender process minister and when you become alarmed issue the department with a show cause notice.

Who endorsed this company for the contract? Was it the government or did they have a panel to make the decision? Someone needs to accept responsibility for picking this company

mickwow said...

just been listening to RED NECK RADIO in between doing serious stuff and the Hillbillies are rabid. It is starting to appear to them that these inexperienced members of parliament that they blindly voted to power cannot cut it.They have previously tried the denial approach but this Bootcamp fiasco and the fact that not one croc or bat has been shot has really spun them out.One caller even suggested they might get rolled in the next election, which made mckenzie grunt like he had just been kneed in the balls. The shortcomings of this government are now becoming obvious all around the state, the more the better i say.By the time the next election is due i reckon they will have fucked themselves completely.

Anonymous said...

Ruby, the comments are now up in Townsville's Hillbilly Herald with comments from the usual suspects. It looks like Silverbeet, the angry old retiree from Cityview is now also on the public servant bashing bandwagon (the leftover legacy of Labor you know). Probably has a point though because like a lot of the current LNP, Trout and King between them would be flat out making a decision whether to shit or shave.

Boot business gone mad. To think the government invested tax payers money and in return a provider of services can buy a house and a senior Australian who chose to live away from anti social behaviour is confronted in her own home.

Terrible experience for that lady.

If you are wondering how this occurred, look back to about 2009 when the federal government awarded a tender to a little known compant called CEA (Community Enterprise Australia) for the management of the CDEP programs in some Cape communities. CEA at the time had no staff, had been incorporated only days before submitting the tender and its only claim to fame was that it was 100% owned and run by ITEC. Unless I am mistaken, Safe Pathways is an offshoot of ITEC....coincidence, I think not.....
