MISDIRECTION AND LIES CONTINUE FROM LOCAL CAIRNS MP'S WHILE GAVIN KING'S ARROGANT, BULLY-BOY TACTICS ARE AGAIN EXPOSED

"WE HAVE TO FOLLOW THE LAW AND BE PIGS". . .
ATTORNEY GENERAL JARROD BLEIJIE
Anger at the LNP Pay Rort is palpable.  It was the talk at Grafton Street coffee shops yesterday, and HBW readership has spiked, triple the normal readership.  Word that Cairns non-regional councillors would benefit from this LNP pig trough was getting some especially angry.

As one said, "everyone's forced to cutback except them".  The "them" in this case is our state and local elected representatives - irrespective of party.

Queensland LNP MP's were issued a "media guidance" memo yesterday, which three local MP's, Michael "Hide the Backhoe" Trout, Curtis Pitt,  and David Kempton all seemed to follow by announcing they would forgo any "back pay".  However none commented on the real issue - a $57,000 per year INCREASE IN PAY.

We ask again, what's happened to the concept of "public service"??

Then there's Gavin "Don't Rape Me" King.  With his usual arrogant and "me-first" self-promoting attitude, King refused to comment on the Pay Rort unless the Cairns Post wrote a positive story about his meeting the PNG Prime Minister.  Who the fuck cares, Gavin - are you the Queensland Minister for Foreign Affairs?  Obviously even the Cairns Post can't defend the irrational and non-productive representation being provided by the Member for Cairns.

The Pay Rort has overshadowed a bigger issue, Queensland Electoral Reform.  When consultation began for this important legislation, dropping compulsory voting was mentioned as a possible reform.  However yesterday Attorney General Jarrod Bleijie tabled the report to be used as a basis for new legislation.

As the United States battles the unchecked influx of corporate and wealthy individual money in their electoral process, the Joh Bjelke Newman proposal removes caps on corporate and personal donations. And current law that requires reporting of
all donations greater than $1000 will be scrapped, raising the reporting threshold to $12,400!  And the parties would not be required to report any of the fundraising at "$10,000 a plate access dinners"!

So instead of retaining the largely government-funded campaign model, the LNP is opening the door to a flood of unreported corporate political contributions that can't be traced, and won't be recorded.  And in a further strengthening of the two major parties, government funding will be cut to virtually all independent candidates.  A gutting of pesky ankle-biters like Bob Katter's party.  Something that even the ALP will support.

Elections will see voters bombarded with 30 second political attack advertising, lowering the level of discourse even further.  And a financial boon to the broadcasters and newspapers, who will be even more compliant to the political parties.  Corporate money in the political process is a corrupt and corrosive hollowing-out of real democracy.

Many commenters to the Electoral "Green Paper" demanded the right to recall poorly performing politicians, as can be done in the USA, France, Germany, and other democracies.  The LNP didn't even respond to this suggestion.

Huge pay rises and unchecked corporate donations to politicians.  The dark days are surely here.

How much must it hurt King being paid less than Ole Sleepy Manning?

The neo-cons have arrived in Queensland, courtesy of the 50% of Queenslanders who voted for Newman. Funny but you can't hear them cheering and squealing with joy anymore now they know they are going to lose their free hospital system to American corporations, will see all of their Crown land sold off, aged care hospitals closed down, and their politicians the highest paid in the country. It's now OPEN SLATHER for the foreign corporations to pour into Queensland and grab all of State assets. When Newman is finished, and thanks to Queenslanders again, he will be in office for at least two more terms, the corporations will own Queensland. Thanks to the suckers and retards who voted for Newman.

This is in fact the second pay rise given by Newman to the Queensland Parliament since his election last year. It isn't the first and I doubt it will be the last. It is sheer sophistry and arrogance to "blame" Anna Bligh for their own greed. Never forget we have a State Government with a huge majority and scarcely any Opposition. They can do what they want and if that is stealing millions from the Queensland taxpayer in obscene salaries, lurks and perks, then that is what they will do. I'm beyond being surprised at what the Newman LNP do.

I just read where the LNP are sacking or "reclassifying" all the staff at WorkCover. Looks like workers compensation is being completely privatised so henceforth there won't be many claims approved. Another sad ending to one of Labor's achievements. It was the T.J. Ryan Labor Government back in the 1920s or thereabouts which set up the Workers Compensation Board. Still, I have to console myself that this is what 50% of Queenslanders voted for and what they wanted. They can wail and whinge and scream if they get injured at work and have to bear the full medical costs.

But my work cover premium is still going up...

Anonymous said...

Yeah Anonymous just like your house insurance ay? Higher and higher premiums for less cover and no guarantee they will pay out on a claim at all.Now just imagine whats going to happen when Abbott abolishes Medicare and everyone has to take our private health insurance. Oh shit yeah for a while it will be all hunky dorey, then the squeeze will start, you got to pay a "loading" if you get sick, have an accident, grow old, get pregnant. Just like the yanks do. Yeah ain't privatisation fucken grand!

I read where this salary increase would make Newman's Government the highest paid State politicians in Australia. Greedy bastards!

Meanwhile Pearl the squeeling Parrot has been elevated by McKenzie to "crocodile expert" and spokesperson for Entsch. Entsch was not available to speak on the subject of crocodile removal, so Pearl was dragged in to speak on his behalf. Running out of issues after first opposing the CEP, then the de-amalgamation of Pt. Douglas ( and not making good on her "threat" to move to NSW) Pearl is now part of the campaign against crocs that display "agrsseive behaviour". What next Pearl ? There are no more female politicians to attack, so what will it be ? Bats, cyclists ..?We also heard from Peter Trout, the Trout family's godfather. He is now McKenzie's local "expert" on the live cattle trade to Indonesia. Wonder if he watched Q & A in Indonesia last night...
He could have learned a thing or two..

What a sad old program the Mackenzie show is now there are no bitches to crucify. Still, rugnut can always turn on Pearl and Bev in Atherton. Neither have the mandatory tassel for the LNP. As long as they are fawning and totally submissive they will be alright for a while.

Privatisation of Work Cover has been tried before in NSW and did not work. In any privatised scheme the pressure will be on to reduce payouts and increase premiums, which would be bad for both employers and employees. Now that the country at last has a National Disability Insurance Scheme, it would be a backward step to reduce the effectiveness of Work Cover.

Doesn't make sense, unless you use LNP logic.

I think they could remove King, Trout and Kempton without affecting Front Line services. When was the last time any of them answered a question or spoke to a constituent?

King's probably spending all his time looking for retirement places, based on his existing salary and generous super/retirement package. All courtesy of the idiotic voters of Cairns.

The LNP don't give a stuff about workers rights. But isn't it interesting the way the media are now trying to put full blame on the deaths from pink batt installation fair square on the Labor Government...while meanwhile the LNP in Queensland are doing everything to water down workers compensation.

It needs to be pointed out that it was the Anna Bligh Labor Government which had parliamentary salaries frozen for several years prior to her governments massive defeat last year. It is the Newman LNP Government which has given its government two huge salary increases since its election. Need it be said that Anna Bligh's action in freezing parliamentary salaries received no positive response from the electorate at all? In all the decades I have been watching politics, I have seen several occasions where governments or opposition parties have either frozen salaries or declined a rise in salary and in each occasion there was no noticeable response from the electorate at large.

I notice that the 'Gavin King this is what I want to tell you' Facebook page is steadily growing in numbers of supporters. Lots of comments there also about the self serving salary supersize, particularly with the historically most useless member for Cairns accepting the payrise and mumbling about donating a few sheckels to charity.

Now that the Feds are "responsible" for the Batts deaths does that mean that victims can now sue the Feds in the case of a fatal car smash involving a Holden? Remember the Feds bailed out the car manufacturer so must be "responsible" for these deaths also. Tony Abbott is grasping at straws and involving these grieving parents in a disgraceful political ploy. Let's see him debate Rudd in the National Press Club -he wouldn't dare!

Anonymous said...

A person died in the hospital, time to blame Rudd. The facts whilst uncomfortable are that individuals have responsibilities for their own safety when at the workforce. The government has no relationship with the day to day running of any private business. The parents can blame Rudd if they think it will help, but the responsibility lies with the company and most importantly the individual, hence the reason it is called Individual Responsibility or Shared Responsibility.

Blaming others does not achieve much.

wan king says he is going to donate his surplus to charity after expenses ,but wait another flock of pigs just went overhead

Anonymous said...

Lets not forget please that if a polli says he is giving monies to charity he can then claim all that amount back from the tax man.

Anonymous said...

I'm inclined to agree with Anonymous 01.44. The Bligh Government froze parliamentary salaries for two years. It didn't matter a hiccup to the voters. Neither will this obscene greedy guzzle at the public trough. It means nothingin terms of votes and the LNP know it.

What a stupid statement !!

"unchecked corporate donations". Neo-conservatism is here. Here come the big corporations, especially the American health and pharmaceutical ones. Goodbye Queensland's free health scheme. Jesus, they are going to make a killing.

I guess the fact that behind closed doors Gobshite was all for the pay rise - I didn't hear him being chastised for not toeing the pigsty line - puts his kind offer to donate a cent or two of his massive annual salary to charity into context.

He'll get it all back in brown paper bags from his corporate mates anyway.

Anonymous said...

Apparently a former Bjelken Pedersen henchman has been waiting outside KIng's office with an empty brown paper bag.Charity anyone ?

Anon No. 4 said...

Now all the other little piggies are lining up to say, hey, I'm real angry about this fair dinkum and I'm not gunna take it any more - put it in a brown paper bag, big boy, and I'll bend over for you licketty split.

So Seeney and his mates have been caught yet again ripping off Queenslanders and after a week of defending a payrise of USPresidential proportions has now backed down. What's that poor boy Gav going to do now after showing the world his greed for money and will now have it taken away from him?
