TODAY'S SECRET SOUND - AUDI RACING SOUTH ON THE BRUCE HIGHWAY AS 4CA SACKS MORNING HOST TONY MCMANUS

With barely six months under his belt, Cairns is buzzing this morning with rumours that 4CA morning host Tony McManus has been sacked.

Returning to fill the big seat is Michael J. Bailey, who delighted Cairns in the 90's with his upbeat, positive view of people and the community.

McManus has been ineffectual at connecting with the morning show audience, and his bootlicking approach to John MacKenzie has been offensive to the drive-time audience, who shun the 300 hillbillies like the plague.

More soon. . . .

Bailey used to stand in for McKenzie when he was on holidays years ago and that used be a delightful change. He should take over talk-back. The hillbillies with Pearl in the lead can call Alan Jones instead.

Good news peoples. Michael J Bailey will soon be back as the breakfast announcer on 4CA. Long time residents will remember MJB from the 90s in Cairns. He has been at 4RO Rockhampton for for last decade or so. Like Locco, he has a natural positive outlook on life, and it reflects on his programmes. Let's hope 4CA sees the light and turfs Mackenzie and replaces him with MJB for the 9am talkback programme. Guaranteed their listening audience will increase because of his 'Hey, isn't it a great day in FNQ. Ah, you can't beat it' positive and entertaining show. Instead of the negative, whinging, complaining, and utterly thick and absurd show that Mackenzies has become.

From just a business point of view alone, Mckenzie should go. 4CA is a dinosaur with this idiot pontificating to an ever decreasing audience. With the right person espousing a sensible balanced view, it would have a chance of some relevance in the Cairns community. Now, it's just a joke.

I hope so. As long as 4ca remains an LNP talk back program and the dim witts who call in I am listening to CD's instead,ABC 24 news for the news bit.Along with pearl they have both done so much damage to the tourist industry in this town.Imagine if you heard one of them talking about a crisis here,a crisis there.I would avoid Cairns like the plague.

"Swallow-me-wallaby" was MJB's wake-up call...why does Cairns always want to go back to the past? Why is this city afraid of the future?

Sorry, but AM Radio really IS the past!
Can you actually buy AM radio receivers? And would 4CA be desperate enough to stream McKenzie's intellectual insults online. And would his audience of 300 monkeys be clever enough to download it?

Off topic but just from the Brisbane Times "“As discussed, the Min (Jack Dempsey) is going to be in Cairns on a personal trip this weekend.
“Is there a quick event we can throw together for this?”
An advisor for police minister Jack Dempsey asked a staffer at police headquarters to “throw together” an official event during Mr Dempsey's pre-arranged personal trip to north Queensland in May last year."
Must have been up here telling Gav and Bob what bank account Campbell wanted our CEP and CBD funding redirected to.

Just drove through Portsmith (or was it Bungalow?) and saw a sign on the side of the road "Billy Gordon door knocking in this area" Hooray at last! But will that ever reach the Cairns Post?

Second Anon -you are right. Why can't Cairns 4CA have a fresh new voice? Although I doubt that a male under 35 would ever get the job and as for a WOMAN!!Never! Not in this Hillbilly Town run by bitter old men over 60.

I think you will find that Mackenzie is paid by the LNP to present them in the best manner possible and to prevent the ALP or Greens from contributing to any talk-back segment. It's an outright corruption of democratic processes at the community level, but I guess it doesn't matter that much anymore as rugnut's audience is definitely showing signs of being in decline and whatever influence he might have had is fast disappearing.

Cairns is full of "has beens". Why don't they just go home and sleep it all off? The Mayor and his team are a prime example. Bring on some young voice on 4CA to liven the City up a bit.

what happened to the Mckenzie wanna b look a like, I think rugnut thought he was a treat to his position and got him sacked.

'4CA liven up Cairns'sounds as silly as 'military intelligence'. I can't remember when I last listened to local commercial radio now that you can access the best stations on the internet.
