|CONVICTED BURGLAR - PHOTO POSTED BY HARLEY|
RICHARDSON ON HIS FACEBOOK PAGE
Harley seemingly "masterminded" the burglary of a home in Woree, stealing safes and jewelry in excess of $70K with two of his pals, aged 17. And the other one of them a 17 year old girl. It's unknown if the accomplices are in this picture, but from the caption it would seem a distinct possibility.
So lousy were Harley and friends at burglary that the coppers showed up just a few hours later and arrested the trio and recovered all the stolen property. Good police work relies on coppers that know their area and who the dickheads are - and once you've identified one suspect, Facebook helps in rounding up the rest.
Hauled before the court the next day, Harley pleaded guilty
and was released pending sentencing later this month. Both of his partners in crime will need to appear again later.
So far, not so much different from a teen burglary investigation ten years ago, although the inclusion of women is a twist.
But then we get the confounding acts of the "Facebook" generation.
As Harley is released from the watch house on bail, he decides to launch verbal attacks on law enforcement and the media. His mum must be proud! Or maybe passed out drunk somewhere.
Then Harley takes his attacks to his Facebook page, attacking the judge for "having everything on a silver platter" and then announcing to his "brothers" that he'll be having a big party "rage" before his court date on the 28th. Along with professing his true love to some woman named Yazzie Jean.
A read thru Harley's FB page along with those of his "bros" confounds even experienced FB readers. This is a group of young men who seemingly attended local schools (Woree High, Trinity Bay, Bentley Park College) and yet have no grasp of our language. Or seemingly any language. If the schools are graduating such ill-equipped juveniles, it's no wonder we have a crime epidemic!
Prosecutors should front up to court with printouts of all these Facebook pages as proof the two year good behaviour bond likely to be given out will be ineffectual.
NOTE: The blog is now under attack by persons apparently allied with the convicted criminal shown. In part they consider it "unfair" that photos posted by them are now being seen by a wider audience. Go fish.
Wonder how the coppers rounded up this group so quickly? Find one and then go to their Facebook page - a technique being used to great success in Cairns, and elsewhere.
