TROUTY JAILED - FAMILY A NO-SHOW AT SENTENCING

Steven Trout, brother of Barron River MP, was sentenced this morning for drug dealing.  Neither daddy Peter nor brother Michael were present for the sentencing.

Again.  Sigh.

The Honourable Justice James Henry sentenced Steven Trout to seven years in prison, and made him eligible for parole on 13 March 2016.

So two years for this repeat offender?  Fair?

Here's the range of drug sentences imposed by New South Wales courts.

What have NSW courts got to do with QLD? You need some new contributers HBW.....have the usual suspects gone into hiding?

Give me a break, Anon. Showing what's dealt out in a non-Newman state is a worthwhile piece of info.

Am looking forward to our Bjleke Newman Attorney-General condemning this sentence including an early parole base on his earlier comments here: http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/queensland/courtordered-parole-suspended-sentences-may-be-dumped-as-state-gets-tough-on-criminals/story-fnihsrf2-1226688347819

I agree a non Newman state has a lot more value than a current Newman state (if we even publish one). I however find the figure worthless as the article doesn't specify which drugs he was found guilty of dealing. If it was coke or heroin then sure its def favoritism. Also doesn't specify if it was less or more than last time.

During his short custodial sentence he can expand his business model by recruiting more end use clients and distributors.

A person can learn a lot in our prison system.

Anon 18.31 He pleaded guilty to trafficking meth.

I thought Newman was going to crack down on crime

That's one less vote for his brother at the state election I suppose.

Remember the verbal diahorrea that came out of the lnp before the last election. Went something along the lines that magistrates weren't doing their job. If someone gets seven years than they should do seven years. Obviously doesn't apply here.I don't know what age this convicted drug dealer is but maybe he might be a candidate for the non existant Cairns boot camp.

As expected the Compost makes no mention that this is Michael Trout's brother. Can't imagine the "paper" ingnoring such a link if it was an ALP member whose sibling was convicted of a serious drug trafficking offence. The $880m taxpayer funded Murdoch rag maintains it's appalling form.

Although I have little regard for Michael Trout — or any of his fellow local LNP MPs — is it fair to tar him with his brother's brush. What did Cain purportedly say ...

7 Years not enough?? Teacher pleads guilty to molesting a child for the second time and gets four years. Why don't you go comment on something as ridiculous as that.

Bumbling Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie in April last year on drug traffickers:

"Drug traffickers will now have to serve at least eighty per cent of their sentence before being eligible for parole"

"These new laws will ensure the punishment fits the crime and rebalance the scales of justice back in favour of the victim instead of the offender."

Seems the laws don't apply to brothers of LNP MPs

To the person saying that is it fair to tar Michael with the same brush, who do you think paid the court costs. Steven Traout has been dealing in meth for alot longer than 2 years and meth is not the only drug he has been producing. Another thing, why did his girlfriend only get good behavior when she was in it up to her neck.
