BATTEN DOWN THE HATCHES!

4CA owners are engaged in a silly dispute about payment of music royalties for their web stream - a payment that amounts to little more that $100 per month.  This dispute has seen regional areas silenced on the internet while the city located stations have continued.

As this powerful storm approaches the Cape, a flood of complaints have gone into Radio Station 4CA, along with the offices of MP David Kempton and Minister for Blogs Warren Entsch about the loss this communication channel.

Discussions between Kempton and 4CA management have resulted in the station resuming their internet streaming.

http://4ca.com.au/streaming/

However the same complaints into Warren Entch's office by Cape residents (many of ATSI origins) got a response from the Entsch office refusing to take complaints from "those not on the electoral roll".  Perhaps even those who posed for the picture shown in Entsch's logo!

This idiotic response was signed by the #2 dickhead in the office, the self-appointed future of the young LNP, Steve Grasso.

Everyone be safe.

4 CA cyclone coverage is a LNP love fest. McKenzie just mentioned for the 10th time that it is UNPRECEDENTED to have the Premier here in this time of crisis. I think the Premier is here to give some much needed support to the local members who are in danger of losing their seats at the next election.

As for Grasso, why am I not surprised that he is on the public payroll. I always wondered what that worm did for a living...just another scum sucking tax payer funded waste of space. So if he works for a Federal MP why is he allowed to post his nasty bullshit all over FaceBook ? Or is that his job ?

Macca got on the radio about 10, with King, Trouty, and the Premier in the studio. When the sick motherfucker referred to them as his "galaxy of stars", I turned him off.

So, according to Grasso, if you are not on the electoral roll, you are not entitled to any representation from your member of parliament.

I soon changed from 4 CA to the superior coverage on ABC. I just couldn't stand the sound of McKenzie drooling all over his LNP mates. It was truly vomit inducing. Call me a cynic, but what is Newman doing in Cairns other than trying to prop up the unpopular local members ? I'm surprised they didn't blame the ALP for the cyclone. What exactly is Grasso's role and level of authority ? I think we have a right to know, since he is the recipient of tax payer's money. If MP's only represent those on the electoral roll, that would mean a very large percentage of the population has no political representation.

Sorry if this is off topic, but an interesting observation on gambling and the LNP:http://www.independentaustralia.net/politics/politics-display/the-liberal-partys-grog-and-gambling-habit,6374

I heard recently that Grasso on behalf of Stench declined a meeting with an org to discuss homelessness in the electorate as "this wasn't a federal matter" WTF!

I couldn't give a rats arse about the grubs, all I want to know is will we get a handout as I want to buy a plasma TV and a slab of VB.

What a mob of fools, this band of armchair warriors have and are taking Qld and Australia into dangerous territory with their military bulliness, Tony rabbit stands and makes challenges to north korea troops, no doubt he is making us the laughing stock of the world, morrison with his military secrets screened by the defence force so we don't know what is happening with our borders and how much it is costing. cains post gallery collection today re cyclone, newman, trout and motormouth cristafull of it playing in sand pit, where was king, did they think best not to be associated with that waste of space. ABC radio this morning, manning and trout travelling around no doubt in circles, the interviewer asked manning what he did last night, manning replied "is this a trick question", he obviously does not have a clue how to do things the same as the rest of them. Who the bloody hell voted for this mob, I'll bet nobody will own up if you ask them. Just ripping off taxpayers dollars by way of their wages.

I suppose as a public servant Grasso will have to get rid of all his fake facebook accounts now, won't he.

Is Tony Fung on the electoral roll?

you guys are gooses. If Newman was not here you would be bitching and because he is you are bitching. What a pack of fools

I think it is cronyism but we can never be sure, he may hide his talent from the general public. Hides it very well I must say.

It's geese anonymous 17:24, not gooses. Newman taking over in person seems to indicate a lack of confidence in the local members. And the sandbagging photo opportunity was plain pathetic.

By the way, McKenzie sounded positively pissed when he came back on radio on Friday night, but maybe he was just awe struck to be in the presence of such a galaxy of stars.

Mackenzie bullshits away like a good dose of the squirts as he loves up Newman, Manning, Entsch, Trout, Kempton, King and the rest of the LNP. Anna Bligh toured the North ceaselessly during Cyclones Larry and Yasi. Goss visited Innisfail after Cyclone Winnifred.

Entsch goes through so many office staff that frankly its probably a damn good idea to put Grasso there.

Since the LNP in Queensland are bringing in identification requirements for voters, this will exclude many aboriginal and torres strait islander people from voting. So, after fighting for equal rights for over two hundred years, many ATSI peoples will lose one of the most important rights in a democracy. For the likes of Kempton and Entsch, it will make their jobs much easier if they decide the non-voters are not their constituents and don't deserve representation. It's all very simple really. It's all about giving themselves as much money as they can for as little work as possible.

Im listening to Mackenzie now and hes getting all the LNP members on one after another to ask about the bloody cyclone and how it affected their electorates. Not of course that he will ask Curtis Pitt the only ALP member to speak about the impact in Mulgrave. Its just co obvious Mackenzies program is for LNP political propaganda only.

Hey Observer, didn’t mind Goss, he was a good operator but no miracle maker. You see, Winifred was Feb 86, Goss was elected Premier in Dec 89 and like Beattie lacked competent support.

No Premier of any persuasion would fail to visit any part of the Sate that had been impacted by a natural hazard.

I sometimes wonder why I have been on the electoral role since I was 18. At this time, I was naïve and thought that my vote would make a difference and I wanted to have my say (isn't that what we are told?)

We vote for these shit shifters who do nothing but give themselves a pay rise every term and line their own pockets with illegal gains. At the same time, they screw the voters with higher taxes, reduce the benefits of the pensioners and those in the armed services, destroy the environment and the GBMP with mining activity, raid hospital and education funding and fail to keep their election promises.

The older one gets, the more pissed off and disenfranchised one becomes with the political system in this country.

Possibly better not to be on the electoral role, that way, you have nothing to complain about in old age!!!!!

Usually the political visit comes AFTER the natural disaster. Why add to the fearmongering when something may not happen? Newman was grandstanding and it made the situation seem a lot worse than it was and has probably hurt tourism in the process.

NYM said...

You are right there, Anon. 20.38. I cannot recall Goss visiting after Winnifred. That must have been old Joh in his government plane. Winnifred was a much stronger blow than what we experienced here on Saturday. I remember sitting it out well.

You are so right Anon 12:53. Friends have cancelled their trip up here for Easter this year and are rebooking for Bali instead. Of course this was helped by the airline (Jetstar) giving no fees to change flights because of the cyclone.

Off the subject.I always find it ironic that every time the libs/nationals have an enquiry into Labour or the unions a Liberal premier has to resign because of corruption they weren't looking for or big business ducks and weavers the enquiries because of bottom of the harbour tax evasion.the end

It's quite common for politicians on both sides of the fence (well they are really on the same side, let's be honest) to ignore those not on the electoral roll. It's because they are a pack of cunts.

Is the Cairns Labor Party about to endorse its own Joe Bullock (the disgraced WA Labor Senator who described members of his own party as "untrustworthy" and "mad")?

Insiders say that the LNP is licking its lips that Rob Pyne is likely to win Labor Party preselection for the seat of Cairns.

They say they have a pile of dirty on Pyne they will use to embarrass the ALP. Not least of which is his political advertisement against current ALP MP Curtis Pitt in the 2009 State election where along with Bob Katter, he endorsed Damien Byrne. The advert is still available on YouTube: http://youtu.be/VbGuj3Ws_R8

Pyne's open criticism of the ALP is well known including his online statement in the dying days of the Bligh Government where he declared:

"I have not been a member of the Australian Labor Party for many years, but that is the final straw for me. You make your bed and you have to lie in it. These jokers will meet their fate at the next election. The ALP is dead to me now."

Curiously, Pyne's original post here (http://www.cairnsblog.net/2010/09/this-is-party-political-advertisement.html?showComment=1284807997584#c6559935651962319109) has been deleted in recent days.

But his comments can still be seen here: (http://www.cairnsblog.net/2010/09/tim-grau-responds-to-inaccurate.html) and screen shots of the original post have been circulating widely within LNP circles.

Some local ALP members familiar with Pyne's antics are warning of the danger, but it seems a case of factional heavies dominating the vote yet again.

Meanwhile, Gavin "Don't Rape Me" King sits back hoping Pyne is successful in the local preselection.

Anonymous 11.51, how refreshing it will be to have someone like Rob Pyne able and willing to stick it to his own party when they do the wrong thing. Look at King will you for chrissakes. He wouldn't even speak out against his own inept bumbling party when it looked like our hospitals would all collapse with the doctors all walking out. Now what sort of political representative is that, who toes the party line and who doesn't give a shit about his electors? As a Labor man myself mate, let me tell you there are times when an ALP government has pissed me right off, and don't I let them know it too. The bottom line is mate that an ALP government is better than a Tory government any day. Rob's the man for Cairns. We know he will speak up even against his own party if they do wrong and we like that.

Just to update you again: The 4CA streaming is back offline because of the ongoing 'silly dispute about payment of music royalties for their web stream'. The streaming was only back on because of the recent Cyclone Ita. I do hope the streaming resumes full-time shortly once this dispute is resolved. I strongly encourage you all to contact your local MP to express your concerns about this issue and the loss of this communication channel in emergencies.

Ernie Quagmire said...

Hey Jayme Doran, why don't you wake up to the bullshit of Mackenzie and his excuses, he is the sad sack why cairns is in the state it is and these other snouts in the trough (LNP) do their best to use him. We know we are getting PORKED by these RIP OFF FREELODING bastards.
WHY DON'T YOU?

Id just like to back up Bob R. there with his point that an MP who has the integrity and guts to challenge his own political party is rare gold today. King has been an arse licking YES man. yessir yessir yessir three bags full sir. He brings to mind a puppy running around licking Newmans boots. Im backing Rob Pyne because he aint a boot licker or a silly pup and because he will speak out when it is needed. I voted for Darren Hunt last time. This time it will be for Pyne.

Would never listen to commercial radio in a cyclone emergency when we have the ABC online, on FM and AM run by dedicated professionals rather than a past use by date LNP hack wannabe shock jock on a near obsolete commercial AM station.

My concern is if photo id will now be required for voting in any furture elections - where does this leave majority of voters in remote areas? Yes given majority of voters reside in highly populated areas like Cairns, however state elections will see a high percentage of indigenous voters in the seat of cook unable to vote. Still waiting to here if this is going to be the case.... It is common knowledge that for many years remote areas were very strong ALP supporters until LNP jumped on the wild rivers band wagon. I might add former QLD ALP cannot escape criticism or is blameless on policy decisions that have gone belly up etc... hmmm interesting days in politics.

To the commenter on 26/4/14 at 6:58pm, I don't live in the 4CA coverage and I'll won't hear it online because of this ongoing dispute/disagreement between Commercial Radio Australia & the record industry over payment of music royalties on their web stream. I live however live in the darling downs region where the local stations 864AM 4GR relay Ray Hadley from 2GB between 9-11am weekdays and the other local AM station 4WK relays John Laws from 2SM 9am-12pm weekdays.

Yodie, I think your fears are well founded. Aboriginal community people will be adversely affected by any decision to introduce voter ID. This would be a real kick in the guts for indigenous Australians as they only received the right to vote after the 1967 referendum. Interesting that David Kempton the Member for Cook hasn't raised his voice against it, but then he doesn't seem to raise his voice much at all does he?
