GAVIN KING GOES ON ATTACK AFTER ILLEGAL PARKING INCIDENT - DESPITE LONG HISTORY OF IMPERIOUS ATTITUDES

PHOTO COURTESY CHANNEL 7.  CAIRNS POST
RIPPED IT OFF WITH NO ATTRIBUTION
Gavin King is demanding an apology from the photographer who posted a photo of King's imported, electoral Toyota parked in a restricted area at The Pier.  King admitted parking there while posing for photos with more new police recruits for Cairns.

Claiming he'd been dudded, King said 'this isn't a handicap space, it's a loading zone'.  Apparently he doesn't understand why "loading zones" have been created for the adjacent businesses - so much for the "business friendly" LNP.  Nor does his car have a Council-issued "Loading Zone" permit.

King also blubbered "Apart from the moral prerogative, given the prominence of my name and face on my car I would not willingly park in a disabled spot".

A guy well known for his views excusing rape, and calling Chinese "freaks and weirdos", has given up his right to cite "moral prerogative" as a defence.  Especially parked at The Pier, flush with vacant parking day and night.  It's clear our double-talking MP took the closest space available, seeing himself to busy and important to walk the extra 10 meters.

John MacKenzie, suckered by the poor Cairns Post reporting (which just said the picture taken had 'gone viral'), started to berate the use of social media and "everyone who has a camera".  THIS WAS A CAMERAMAN AT CHANNEL SEVEN LOCAL NEWS, DOING HIS JOB, DICKHEAD!  THAT'S MORE THAN WE CAN SAY FOR YOU!

Undermining the bullshit explanations are King's well-known history of illegal parking - as we discovered in 2012.

He just doesn't like getting caught.

Stop the Press! The Four Disabled spots at the Pier cited in the King Affair have just been BLACKED OUT! They no longer exist as Disabled spaces much to the distress of a number of Disabled motorists parked there.

those parking spaces haven't been disabled parks for a couple of months now, the signs and posts that held the signed were removed at least 3 months ago. they are standard run of the mill parking spots now and have been since the signage was taken down.

As for the camera man, is doing his job taking photos on his phone then posting them on peoples facebook to get the ball rolling? haven't seen that in a job description for a long tim! perhaps Michael H the cameraman can hang out with the infamous Joe the cameraman, sip some beers and focus on what he does best, mandhandling a camera for a network looking to drum up crappy local news.

Last anonymous,

So what about the requirement that the Pier has a set number of handicap parks? They can just paint 'em out whenever they want?

And the photos were posted on the Seven Local News Facebook page, moron.

https://www.facebook.com/7newscairns

The fact they went viral is up to everyone else.

they were actually first posted by Michael Hutchinson the camera man to gavin kings page, then when things started getting interesting to channel 7's page, then rob pyne got on board and the rest... well its a lot of waffle and keyboard warriors.

What an arrogant dickhead.

Anonymous 16:23, so you would have parked there? Wonder what else you do as a driver as no one else were obviously parking there. Ever wondered what the other lines on the roads are for as you drive around our fair city?

signs were taken down, not a disabled park, get over it

King has boasted proudly today that he's bullied the original poster of the photos (posted WITHOUT any commentary, btw) into an "unreserved apology".

Typical LNP bully boy tactics. King must be so proud!

So now Mr King digs his hole deeper and threatens to sue and his mates at the compost seem happy to sink the boot in as well - I wonder what his next job in 2015 will be.

All the apologists defending the Dishonourable Member for Cairns should check the Queensland Traffic Laws. At the time the photo was taken the road markings are clearly visible as denoting parking bays for the disabled in society. Stupidity and arrogance are not disabilities, just character flaws.

I'm hoping that the person who posted the original photo and the brunt of the previously mentioned bullying doesn't mind me sharing this link. It includes a copy of the law regarding disabled parking spaces and to me it clearly shows that Mr King was in the wrong. It's a damn shame that anonymous' does not have the courage to put a name to his comments. Here's the link http://nopermitnopark.com/kinggavinapology/

Leaving out whether or not the parking was legal, the bigger issue is the incredibly poor judgement shown by the Member for Cairns when faced with this issue.

He had several choices.

1. Ignore it. It's only Facebook.

2. Stand in front of the marked area with the Cairns Post photographer and say "anyone would have been confused about these worn out markings".

3. Apologise and make up some lame excuse about being late because he was helping a constituent, blah, blah.

4. Tell everyone to get stuffed because he's the Member for Cairns and will park wherever he damn well pleases.

5. Threaten to sue the person who took the photos, and bully him into an unwarranted apology, keeping the issue in the media for another few days.

6. Get the demanded-for apology but continue to bully everyone in town by claiming that "a solicitor is still looking at the issue".

You've got to wonder about the decision making capability of King when at every point he elects to do the WRONG thing!

STOP Press -the Disabled spaces have been reinstated -after a Keystone Cops -like fiasco! Well done CRC -you bunch of idiots!

Just be aware that King is smarter and more cunning (as a shithouse rat) than he looks - I'm sure there's a game he's playing and the more his name his fed into the media cycle the more people know his name...and we know that the vast majority of people's memories are short when it comes to elections.
Rob Pyne would do well to steer clear of this issue because he might get stung like he did with a certain former councillor...at the moment Pyne's acting a bit like a moth being sucked into the flame...

I would be happy to be mr Kings driver on a volunteer basis. He has such a busy schedule and should not have to worry about driving and parking in such a chaotic city. Leave him alone -he should be able to park wherever he likes. Go Gavie!

Anonymous said...

..and you could make him cups of tea and collect his mail and help him look for policies. The LNP like that in a girl. And one who can drive too.

Anon 16:40

He is not smarter than he looks and if anything he suffers over exposure. We stopped watching channel 7 news because he is waffling on incoherently in that droney boring voice night after night.

If you take the wall to wall LNP propaganda away from the McKenzie "we hate bats, crocs, greenies and anyone who is not LNP" show, all you are left with is a few old boring fuckwits who drone on about the same old crap day after day, some advertising and McKenzie reading the papers out loud. The amount of access that is given to King is extraordinary with McKenzie trying to diffuse and gloss over any issues that may arise. It is beyond belief that he gets away with it.

Anon 16:40 We have switched to WIN as it has more comprehensive local news stories and not padding from other regions. Also that sad little Flacco look alike Mckenzie gets a weekly gig with Seven. Instant turn off for me.
