I believe the approval process initiated by the Newman Government has proceeded so far along that it obliges any future government whether ALP, Greens, PUP, Independent, Shooters Party, Fishing Party, Hemp Australia Party, Liberal Democrats Party, Motorists Party or whatever, into honouring the agreement. If any future government tries to reneg, they face prosecution from AQUIS. King has repeatedly said, over and over, that the Newman Government were "fast tracking" the AQUIS proposal. It is doubtful that there has been any full investigation into "due diligence". To sum up, the ALP have no other option but to honour the agreement the LNP have rushed through.

I have press cuttings here by Gavin King wherein he has stated that "AQUIS would not go ahead if there was a Labor Government." His actual words. Right from the beginning, King was making it a political issue and appealing to voters on the premise that the ALP were therefore against the endless job opportunities that this project would entail. AQUIS is not situated within the Cairns Electorate, however Michael Trout was apparently content to let King politicise the issue. King has also said, and I have the press cuttings again, that the Newman Government were fast tracking this development and cutting all the red tape. I believe HBW also published comments quoting his statements to that effect. If we look at what King has said and take his word for it, that is that the Newman Government were cutting through red tape in order to rush through the proposal, then we can deduct that the negotiations with the State Government cannot now be reversed without entailing litigation from AQUIS. I am inclined to believe this is the current status of the project. This would have placed any future government in a legal quandary, not of their making, but that of the LNPs who have insisted on political expediency rather than prudent caution when dealing with such an immense project. The recent 4 Corners program highlighted the role of the Triads with casino operations. Hillbilly Watch has raised the issue of Triads on this blog, however the LNP have never mentioned a single word about these highly organised and sophisticated criminal gangs. It is a grave concern as it is doubtful we have the resources and know how to deal effectively with them.

Now, how do we split the goodies?

We didn't plan on this, but since you offer.......remember that old song - "yessir, yessir, 3 bags full"?

Well they have no choice, seriously. It is going through probity, going through EIS, going through Foreign Investment reviews, going through council approval so if any issues we have raised are a problem then it should be rejected under those processes. Also financing should force it to be viable. Nothing the ALP party can do about it, they are in opposition!

I trust if the system seems "corrupted" or the infrastructure funding is not promised, or approval is granted when advice suggest it should not, or if the debt for taxpayers will be too high... only then do ALP have a duty to question the project.

Politically it is finished so they play the game to shut up stupid.

I reckon your on the ball there Allison. I thought something was up when Manning put that gag order on councillors saying that only he could speak out about AQUIS and nobody else. Christ knows what is fucken going on.

If Cairns people are so naïve as to get sucked in by blatant scammers such as The Color Run crooks then the Triads will have a great time of it here. If they just restrict their activities to the casino then they shouldn't worry local people too much however they do have a habit of peddling in the drug trade as well as other insidious activities. I doubt the people of Cairns have any idea of what is in store.
