Residents across the electorate of Barron River are wondering if Joh Bjelke Newman has called an election today. These residents are questioning the legality and, in at least one case, the safety of giant new signs erected by MP Michael Trout in various locations around the electorate.
In one case (shown) the sign is clearly on Queensland State road reserve and illegally installed.
However all the cases run afoul of the Cairns Local Law #6, the Local Law on Signage.
A woman who answered the phone at Trouty's office in Smithfield gave us the one-word answer "supporters' when she was asked who erected the sign. We also asked if she had ever erected the member (or is the member's member), and it was at this point she hung up.
We like the signs. We'll like them better after they've been "adjusted" - crews at work soon. They're a daily reminder of how little this dickhead has done for us.
