4CA - Queensland's Home for Fake News Led by John "Cueball" Mackenzie

ALRIGHT, MOVE ALONG. NOTHING TO SEE HERE. . . .

The Palaszczuk Government has definitively and finally spoken on the silly massive inlet dredging project.

The answer is a resounding "NO".

While John MacKenzie and his hillbilly listeners are going to try and pin this rejection on the ALP, the fact is that both sides of politics, in a rare expression of bipartisanship, were agreed on killing this patently stupid idea.  The mouth-breathing listeners of 4CA actually believed Gavin "Don't Rape Me" King and Joh Bjelke Newman when they "committed" $90M to this ill-conceived project.  A commitment that was never real because both King and Newman (along with the Minister for Blogs Warren Entsch) KNEW that the federal government was preparing to limit the port dredging by international agreement.

The idea didn't pass the laugh test.  Economically it was like flushing $300M down a rathole.  Even the cruise companies knew it made no sense. This whole sordid affair has mostly destroyed the declining reputation of Cummings Economics - who once again have shown that they will churn out fancy bullshit for anyone prepared to pay them.

And today we have Bill Cummings blathering in the ComPost that Cairns is being "shortchanged by $100M".  Of COURSE we are!  Our mouth-breathing "leaders" keep promoting stupid projects instead of economically viable, reasonable investments.  The rejection of this project is a smack-down of this Cairns stupidity.

If our so-called leaders would apply some brain power to this issue, we might develop a workable solution for the cruise industry.  But it's time to move on and start looking on how to grow our tourism industry in a sustainable way.  One place we might start is to demand an overhaul of the Cairns Airport management, which has proven to be inept at increasing airline usage but vitally adept at screwing the users of this vital tourism asset.  Kevin Brown and the airport board have only been interested in fleecing the public for their investment banker owners.  Guess who has the ONLY free parking spot at the airport?  It surely isn't any of the hardworking  employees, who see their parking costs raised to recoup any pay rises they earn like clockwork.

Cairns Airport GM Janice Antonson, not the only UK migrant snaring one of these highly paid and perk-heavy jobs from Brown, is now said to be on "stress leave".  Perhaps her inability to secure international services while the Gold Coast and other airports run roughshod over the Cairns tourism market is now starting to bite.  And then there's the loss of 16 year airline United, cutting Cairns off from the US market.

Anastacia Palaszczuk opened last night's FNQ Investment Conference trying to convince real, serious investors that we have real, serious projects for them.  It's hard to make this case when the local news is full of nonsensical whimsy instead of real economic reporting.

And speaking of whimsy - - apparently Warren Entsch is ready to move on with his latest fairy-dust concoction.  Entsch commissioned a primary schooler to produce a photoshop view of how East Trinity would benefit from a tunnel connecting the CBD to this beautiful green CBD backdrop.  Just don't mention that apparently Entsch and his other former digger mates (including "General Mansford") are among the largest landowners in East Trinity.  Never mind that this silly made-up drawing would require a roadway at about a 60 degree angle both up and down - which almost no cars and absolutely no trucks could negotiate.

Entschy has given the MacKenzie hillbillies a new idiotic idea to embrace and love.  It's kinda like jiggling a ball of yarn in front of a cat.  Sadly, these kitties can vote.

Really hard to believe stupidity rules so easily in an educated nation like Australia. Though people wizened up to Abbott and Newman so lets hope Cairns is smarter than it looks. We have a bunch of Abbotts running the show. This Entsch thing is weird. Really really weird.

Of course LNP agreed with ALP on ports,it was their baby. Springborg said he supported priority ports for Cairns only if it checked out environmentally. Knowing full well that environmentally it had already failed and that the Federal government is the caretaker of world heritage sites. Political spin to fool the less educated. McKenzie does not seem to mind LNP treating its listeners like fools. He is one of them afterall, probably fell for it himself. Not the smartest tool in the shed.

Memo Warren; when the last Indian myna bird has been caught, and insurance premiums are consistent with those in the (storm-ravaged) south-east, then you can bring out your crayons again and inspire us with more of your grandiose schemes.

And here's the latest ploy from Thugby League tragic Capt Manning-ring to woo the masses. No doubt
his mate, Bill Cummings, will cobble together some stats to back this old chestnut. Plus ca change!

CEP was really needed. The town needed it. Badly. Nope.
NBN to the premise badly needed, so many losing Internet connection. People vote it down.
This brain fart is a practical solution to a problem we do not have, and will never have if we reject a CEP, if we reject NBN to the premise. It will be more than a billion dollar expense to service an area where maybe people might move to. Plus commitment to UNESO is no new dredging and this will requies a mountain of mud to be moved. Madness. Irrational. Crazy. Has Cairns always been this way?

Haha Kevin Brown. Free parking for his Mercedes, of course! What has he done for Cairns airport in 5 years, apart from feather the nests of himself and his executive team? Not much except cut the place to the bone, put up rents, driven general aviation out of the airport. His aeronautical manager is on around $250k per year, spends another $150k per year flying around the world, shopping, and brings in next to no new business. Brown himself is on a $500k package, yet he still claims $2 for parking when going to the staff Xmas party! Poor Cairns, the only money being made for the region is in his executives bank accounts, and his, nothing for anyone else. It's a disgrace and he is a poor excuse for a CEO.

Christ or mighty, so Entsch has come up with another fucken carrot to win the votes of the dickheads has he? Just like his rectangular stadium his giant water fountain, his plans to build a theatre at Port Douglas Marina Mirage.

Bob R,.. The saying is "CHRIST ALMIGHTY" and NOT "Christ or mighty". Sheesh !

Now we have some blow ins say the Chinese are coming? Do they realise we have been told this for years and it starts to sound like the boy who called wolf. People are sick of hearing about it. If they come fine, same as some Aussie may come. Same as some Indians may come. Makes us look like beggars.

When is this much talked about aquarium going to start?
You know the one where the Council has allowed for no car parking.
And what about Peabodys wet dream, when's that gonna start?

TAS said...

Haha, Peabody's wet dream, nothing to see there either. It's gone the way of Aquis - to be followed by all those other stupid re-hashed grandiose schemes shown in Saturday's The Weekend Comic.

Ken svay said...

Poor Cairns indeed. What has happened to the aquarium works? Why does it start and then stop? This town is remarkably badly governed. I have a friend with a superior unit to mine in Darwin, her rates are about half what I pay.
Why are rates so expensive, time for a new broom. And the airport thing, where is Air Asia?

There is never any middle ground with Warren. It is either trying to introduce policies to better the lot of homosexuals are hair brain schemes totally out of left field that are so cost prohibitive that even the Labour part wouldn't touch them. Why not try something simple Warren like securing monies to upgrade road infrastructure. Labour did it on the southern approaches to the city why not try for the northern end of town.

I wish the Neville no names on this site would stop making false accusations about my mates brownie ,rob r , pelvis ,de wally, the Muslim Glasson, and get their facts right and blame the chinese for everything your all jealous of our yum cha go forth and cut more trees down

Haha. Warren actually being proactive and spending on infrastructure for the north side?? Haha. That clown couldn't secure enough money to buy his Harley a new set of tyres. We need to vote his fat pimply arse out of town. As for Air Asia, what a joke. The only minor win that Brown and Antonson have pulled in over the past 4 years. The two of them are too busy travelling the world business class and staying in 5 star accomodation rather than doing real work, work that will benefit the region. I would put those two in the same category as Warren - all huff and puff with no real results. Cairns sure does attract those who can't make it in the 'real' world. Clowns

Big Wazza has been in for 5 terms and this is all he can come up with. Since he was first elected he has contributed 1 DUI to his electorate, there is not one single achievement that he can say he has done for our electorate. It sounds like he is smoking some of that marijuana he proposes for medicinal purposes. His own party doesn't take him seriously so neither should you.

Hamish Krint said...

I'm guessing Wazza might pull the pin at the next election (jump before you are pushed!) and retire on a nice fat parliamentary pension. Then he can become entrepreneurial, and raise funds and build the brunnel from private enterprise contributions. And I will also grow wings and fly across the water....

Observer said...

I doubt Entsch will retire when he is enjoying all the privileges and perks of office. He is around 68 years of age now, so another term would see him reach his 70s. He has had an easy cushy time of it being supported by the local media machine and not being held accountable for all his stupid claims. The media won't allow much criticism of him to appear either. Mackenzie behaves like an idolising schoolboy whenever Entsch gets on his program and doesn't question him. Overall it is an easy, no stress, well paid position for Entsch so he won't give it up. I mean would you if you were in his shoes? Frankly, I am predicting Entsch dies in office.

I think with Entsch the people vote for the party, not the local MP. In fact it was a bellwether seat until recently. What surprises is why fellow Liberal party members do not act to get a better rep for the region. Business hurts, you would think they would want someone with better insights and less populist.

Though why any regional city votes Liberal or why farmers do or why small towns do is a mystery. Liberal policies favour the cities just that bit more than ALP. Not that there is a a lot of difference. Then why did National join with them.?

Hey Shanghai, you're a person with a finger on the.... um... pulse. Do you know anything about the Cairns Post Troll Dennis Silverman of Park Ridge? Or Reader from Mooroobool? or Andras Underpants of the Esplanade. All are regular contributers who regularly write to the online compost comments, but none as eloquently as yourself here of course.

Anonymous said...

Don't forget " a concerned reader of your comments" who is actually Karl Kobler, a LNP tragic and Gavin Who fanboy, who is a regular on talkback and is continuously sniping at the current member for Cairns. The poor man is very confused about many things and not very articulate, but I believe he has a problem with the greens, labor, the unions and all the other usual conservative bugbears. Like most of the McKenzie regulars, he seems to get his (mis)information mainly from the likes of Andrew Bolt .J

Anonymous said...

It seems that Warren Enema and Kevin's Brown are two peas in a pod. Both are 'big talkers', both are continuously scrutinised for earning big dollars while delivering nothing to the region, both appear to have absolutely no respect within the region, outside of Cairns nobody knows or cares about them, neither of them can come up with innovative new ideas for the region, and one would question their motives with anything as they always look out for themselves first. Surely we can send both of them, and Manning, to China? Offload the three of them as a package? Wouldn't be worth much but surely we can fool the Chinese!

thank yuo Neville above such gracious words u must be wise I don't partake in social media so don't know the above but to me it sounds like the local branch of lnp

I'm surprise that the failed local business weirdo Simon Wild hasn't tried to Palm himself off as a candidate for the region! More Cairns freaks
