BULLY BOY BRETT MOLLER - RUNNING FOR DIVISION ONE DUE TO REMOVAL FROM LAW FIRM AND NO READY LNP JOBS TO HAND

At the last Cairns (un)Regional Council election, Bob "Sleepy" Manning pushed forward a candidate for Division 1 that has left the ratepayers in this division basically unrepresented. Steve Brain apparently looked at his councillor position as a part-time job, and even then showed up for council meetings only about half the time

And when he DOES show up, he's not shown the aplomb that one would expect from a councillor.  Frankly, Brain's military experience and skills would have been tapped by a smarter mayor.  Brain's departure is a symptom of the operational illness inside the Manning council

And confirmation of the sick and unbusinesslike culture of Council operations could be seen in Brain's December statement.  "Viciousness of local government" was the cause cited by Brain for his perfunctory end to an unfortunate few years.

BRETT MOLLER - NOW RELEGATED TO
WAITING TABLES.  CHALLENGING.
Divison 1 more than any other requires an engaged and enthusiastic councillor to engage with the residents.

The proposed Manning candidate Brett Moller isn't it.

Even his own law firm has had enough of Moller, with legal insiders all confirming that Moller was given a booting.  His big mouth has proven to be an embarrassment.

And local residents and neighbours of Moller are now starting to come forward with their own stories of bullying and boorish behaviour.

Moller's primary job as the anointed LNP lapdog chair of Cairns Ports has only one task - to play "hide the dredging report" from the electorate in the cynical attempt to get King and Trout reelected.  The report was finished long before the election and the outcome was the same as it eventually was with the ALP - no one is going to pay $300M to dredge our inlet for a few more cruise ships.  Moller showed disrespect for the Cairns community by hiding this negative report on the dredging.

After Moller was dumped from his Cairns Ports job, so too now we find has his law firm followed suit.

So why does Moller want to represent the ratepayers of Division 1?  It's clear he's only interested in the quick $100K a year as he trolls his LNP connections for another job.

Does Divison 1, neglected for so long, deserve another part-time councillor?

We welcome a discussion of the two Independent candidates for Division 1, Sandra Charlton and Harry Tenni.  Because frankly we don't need another stiff in Division 1 for the next four years.

How can they justify paying councillors so much?

Problem for me is that he is in a chamber of commerce which has the potential for him being paid by ratepayers as a business lobbyist. Not in a deliberate way. just clearly where his interest lies rather than local issues like footpaths and drains.

Though why anyone with business interest at heart would get behind Manninng leaves me questioning their business acumen.

With a critical council election looming fast it's a relief that you managed to counter the powers of darkness that would muzzle you, HBW. Cairns needs your posts and the platform that you provide more than ever. Sounds like Moller would be right at home with Schilling and the other bully boys in the Unity Team!

Moller at one end of town and that shonky ho Bronwyn Thomas the other - with Manning as mayor. If they get up, God help us, Auburn council's infamous deeds will pale into insignificance by comparison ...

Harry was recently endorsed on 4CA by former Bjelke Pedersen local government minister Martin Tenni. Hardly a recommendation, so that only leaves Sandra Charlton.

Interesting how HBW was belted with a cyber attack yesterday. Somebody is very touchy about what is being posted. Usually the truth hurts, so whoever did it has shown their true colours.

HBW...you are magnificent!Keep up the good work.

Moller was just on air trying sell Mayor Manning's "green train". Strangely enough none of his regular greenie bashing flat earthers are calling up to howl it down. Imagine the outcry if someone like the previous mayor had come up with this. Or , God forbid, Rob Pyne...If Manning decided to try and put a nuclear waste dump on Green Island, the shock jock would probably support it.

If Greens had made the train suggestion all the reactionary nutjobs would be foaming at the mouth. If ALP had made the suggestion all the reaction nutcases would be foaming at the mouth. BANKRUPTCY WHITE ELEPHANT SKY IS FALLING. This is the problem with living in a backward regressive place.

Yet reactionary nutcase supreme Tony Abbott hated funding light rail and said Liberal would only support road. Enter Greenie Train Boy Turnbull with his cheque book and all the airheads line up like the brain dead sheeple they are..

Light rail is not a bad idea but we know when LNP support it then it means private investors will make a motsa out of it and they are already picking out what they can steal from us ratepayers.

No doubt land will be given away at rock bottom prices, build apartment next to a station or a shop /maybe $1 a year 99 year lease with Public Private Partnershsip jargon disguising the fact we are to be ripped off again. Still I think that even private would have no use for most of the 50km rail.

No asset sales, the vote is in.

I think it should be called the 'crazy train' as all of these locals gimps are mental. Or should it be the 'gravy train' due to the amount of snouts in the trough?!

When sporting teams dont perform, the coach gets the chop, when race horses dont win they shoot them.....lucky you are not a racehorse Manning.

Disturbing reports are coming from the Council concerning the toxic work culture the Council staff have to endure. Having worked in a toxic work environment myself, I know that this type of stressful culture starts from the top of the organisation and works its way down. A toxic work environment hinders communication and productivity. An anxious, fearful staff do not perform to their best ability. Anxiety and stress compromises the immune system in many people and sickness is often the result, hence staff absenteeism rises. This is all well documented in business management journals etc etc I hope some of the current Council staff might be persuaded by my post here, to provide some more details for us.

I feel the people of division one need to look at who is and has put in the hard yards for the area. I no longer live in division one but still have connection there and only one independent has been standing up . Manning and his cronies have got to go.

Manning and his cronies have to go and not be re-elected or in the case of division one elected. Have only seen one candidate actively campaigning and it is not Bob's boy Does division one want another part-time representative? I don't think so.

moller whinging on fb about his corflutes being knocked over or damaged. he has no idea until he was advised by other tory wanna be's to get over it

its painful to think this loser could become a rate payer funded councillor

AA there are bullies in the Council. Another one won't make any difference. Bullies are able to inflict their reign of terror because people won't stand up together against them.

The only way to deal with a bully is to set them up and get even with them. Follow them home after work, away from any CCTV, and give them a good flogging.

Jim Brooks on 4CA at 10:15 today.Let's see what sort of treatment he'll receive today. I have a feeling Schilling won't join in this time.

Hheheh, I dunno about that Anonymous 19.43! However your comment brought back a memory from a couple of decades back when a group of us public servants were all having a few drinks after work. Talk centred around an arrogant, self serving bullying supervisor whom everyone hated (and who was absent of course). Everyone shared their stories of his abusive behaviour. One of the guys became quickly maggotted. Before I left he leaned across and whispered to me, "I did a good job on his brand new car hey?" I didn't know what he was referring to and I stared at him, shocked to find that his eyes had an awful, almost maniacal gleam in them. "Err, what do you mean?" I asked. "I fixed his car for him!" replied the chap. I left, not knowing what he meant. Some days later I found out that the particular supervisor had brought a brand new car, and his wife had stacked it a few days later causing extensive damage. You can draw your own conclusions.

Another example of the cronyism todays Cairns post tourism article. With tourism booming Cairns has underperformed compared to other Australian destinations, reading the post you would think Cairns has outperformed so Mannings triple investment in tourism needs questioning along with the Advance Cairns investment. Conus blog has the facts.

Also with Sydney tourism best in 20 years it proves lock out laws have no bearing at all, otherwise why is growth here been slower without them?

We cannot keep going with lie after lies designed to protect someone jobs really we cannot.

Good comments on the Post article, the moderator must be based somewhere else these days to let those through.

On a positive note rather than looking at the bad things about the candidates let me share a good story from Babinda about Mr Tenni. He was down door knocking and meeting us all a couple of weeks back asking about our concerns and what we could see could be done to improve things down here, talking about benefits he could bring to the community, including grants that he was happy to help apply for etc. I told him about a local community group here that was really struggling and he has since contacted them, come down to one of their meetings with Grant Applications to talk to them about that, brought with him a 'promise cheque' that if he is elected they will be able to cash (on the basis that he has pledged to donate $40,000 of his income from Council back to the community) This is a candidate who is quick to action, has told the group in question that if he is not elected he is still more than happy to help them with the applications, agrees that Councillors do get paid too much and is willing to put his money where his mouth is.

Speaking of the labor party..they are actually leaving voicemail messages on business lines in the local cairns area encouraging votes for this election ....unbelievable..!!

Connect team has handed out sandras vote cards all week..miss independent my arse!

Helen Underwood said...

A can assure you that Connect Cairns has not handed out any How to Vote cards for Sandra Charlton. Connect Cairns has said that she is their preferred Candidate. Sandra has not endorsed either Connect Cairns or Cairns Unity. Sandra has not accepted any financial contributions towards her election campaign and unlike Brett Moller and Harry Tenni has not done any preference deals. Therefore, in my opinion, she is the only 100% Independent Candidate that is running in Division 1.
