WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PORT DOUGLAS NEWSPORT'S CELEBRATED "INDEPENDENT POLITICAL CORRESPONDENT"??

With great fanfare, the editor of the Port Douglas Newsport announced their new "independent political correspondent", Gavin "Don't Rape Me" King.

Failed newsman
Failed editor.
Failed chief-of-staff.
Failed editor at large.
Failed Member of Parliament.
Failed fiction author.

All-around failure.

After one juvenile hit-piece against the popular Douglas Shire Mayor Julia Leu, this poorly written story disappeared.

Along with any other writing from King.

Insert your own snide comment here.

You're spot on correct for a change, Steve Grasso.

Gavin King *IS* A GREAT FIEND.

Thank you for additional LNP wanker confirmation.

King does have a lot of get up and go plus self confidence, both valuable attributes. If he matches them to something he is good at then he may do very well but he has little talent in politics or writing.

C'mon guys, by the look of the lady's hat he is wearing he should probably be also wearing Kevin Browns high heels!! Poor Gavin, no regular work, surely someone will give him a job as a cleaner at Cairns airport? Or driving a street sweeper for Manning along the esplanade at 4:00am. Or a job as a tour guide up at the Daintree?

Yes Mr Grasso, I'm sure your Tory mates will think up more useless shit to stay in power at our loss. It's not as though you don't have form. I mean what have you pricks ever done for FNQ? Speaking of fiends, did that no smoking sign ever get put up at the hospital Gav?

Anonymous said...

ROFL "FIEND" I'm still laughing. Great description.

Ken svay said...

I wonder how sales of his Newman book are going? He does seem to have little talent for anything except self promotion.

Tony Hillier said...

There's a "no smoking" sign in the park opposite Cairns Hospital, which staff and patients studiously ignore!

So come on Grasso, give us the goss. What's the deal going on between Pyne and the LNP over this abortion bloody thing? Come on, fess up. We know the LNP have opposed fucken abortion since the Arc so what's with this bloody turnabout with Nicholls giving everyone in the LNP a conscience vote? Don't bloody try and give us a spin either. The LNP have never given a stuff about women's rights. Something is up like maybe a shady covert little quid pro quo deal.

Anonymous said...

That's my take too Anonymous 15.53 The LNP don't change policy like this without an agenda. Nevertheless all the little school girls are gushing around Pyne like he is Justin Beiber. He's their hero of the moment. What it is going to cost everyone isn't too clear yet.

Steve Grasso. Please mate. The particular article in question was edited and removed by Newsport at the request of people quoted because it was significantly misleading. I contributed to that. No apology! http://cairnsbiz.blogspot.com.au/2016/03/black-hole-envelops-douglas.html

The Newsport article was quite typical of far right wing thinking. Irrational. The fact that a mayoral candidate does not understand how rates work was perhaps more of a concern than King not understanding. He was never good at logical thinking. But you can see it in many examples. The NBN was never flawed the way they said it was. Carbon tax was never the toxic tax they claimed. The Federal debt was much the work of Howard, and still is, but Labor. ?? The New York Times has a good article today writing how the born to rule over time have relied increasingly on the educated and now the educated are now becoming the all powerful political body. Social media as well is exposing the lies they not only feed us but believe themselves. We need to replace the Bolts and Kings, and Tomlinsons with people that actually know what they are talking about to progress.

Alison Alloway said...

I believe Bolt's influence is on the wane, Anonymous 11.04. Hallelujah!

Dunno about that right wing propagandist, Katey somebody or other in London who wrote that she would "run stark naked through the streets of London with a sausage up her bum" if a Muslim, Sadiq Khan, was voted in as Mayor of London. I think the people of London are still waiting for her to follow through.

Fox News is also losing its influence in the USA as unprecedented crowds pour out to listen to Sanders. I am confident the world is waking up to neo-liberalism and neo-liberal propagandists. The Panama Papers is certainly a major wake up call on how the neo-liberals are robbing countries blind and causing ever widening inequality.

I am confident the political pendulum is swinging back around the world as people understand that "trickle down economics" was nothing more than a con by common thieves.

Oh, and social media is certainly proving an effective force. I believe it played a significant role in the loss of the Newman Government.

Poor Gav. His Newman biography sank like a stone - did he really think anyone would want to read it - and his journalistic stint at the Newsport daily the same. Julia Leu wisely chose not to speak to him. Good one Julia; his misogyny is well known and you could not have trusted him.

Alison Alloway said...

Oh, and Anonymous 15.53 above, for chrissakes, it isn't unusual for a political party to change policy, even a long accepted policy on abortion. Watch Malcolm Turnbull at the moment backing down on his changes to bulk billing after a concerted lobbying by the A.M.A. and R.A.C.G.P.

Alison Alloway said...

Well Anonymous 10.46, if I could find a copy of King's book on Newman, I would buy it and keep it in my political and modern history library here. It is worthwhile keeping copies of these books, to quote from in political discussions and debates. I have Joh Bjelke Petersen's own autobiography, "Don't You Worry About That!" in which he proudly boasts about how he introduced the aerial spraying of 245T and 24D into Queensland. Since at the time he wrote the book (1985), we all knew these chemicals were dangerous, it illustrates perfectly how arrogant and obstinate the man was. Then I read Mark Latham's autobiography and I ended up in tears after a couple of chapters as I interpreted how his paranoia had affected him. (If you want to go into politics, you do need a bloody thick hide!) I read the biography on Peter Beattie and saw by his own quotes, how this man by direct contrast to Latham, had coping skills and resilience. "We got it wrong, and the voters gave us a hiding, so it was back to the drawing boards." I read the autobiography of the former dictator of Pakistan, Pervez Musharaff, "In the Line of Fire" and read of how he was the "best graduate of the military academy", had the "finest physique of all graduates", was the "best athlete at school and in the academy", blah blah blah. The words of an outright narcissist describing himself. Nonethless Musharaff claimed he was threatened by the USA to join the "fight on terror" or face American military action on Pakistan. Reading autobiographies and biographies is all about educating ourselves, and being armed with facts and references in political discussions. I have quite a large library.

Nothing beats Lathams 'Conga line of suckholes' book, very funny shit! I agree though, Latham lost the plot and couldn't restrain his emotions. Politics is a viscous environment. However it is one that pays well, provides many taxpayer troughs to feed from, and also corruptly lines ones back pocket. Sorry Allison, you won't like to hear that but it is true. Pollies are the biggest crooks to grace gods earth and I'm yet to meet one that isn't a millionaire, so that must prove something.

People worldwide are fed up, disgusted and outraged at the coruptness, greed and incompetence of politicians, that's why America is going through its current turmoil with the 'Presidential reality show'. The people know that the Pollies are all douchebags. Trump is merely saying what the people are thinking, and the people like that.

The big media companies including the newspapers are owned by the worlds richest families. They print whatever their owners/puppet masters tell them to print. Murdoch himself has boasted in the past that it is he who chooses who becomes Prime Minister of Australia, and he is not too far off the truth. He can manipulate the print, then manipulate the people, in turn directing an election outcome. It's no surprise that when people like the crusty old corpse Murdoch click their fingers the Pollies jump!

Which brings is to Turnbull. He is out of touch with the people, but in touch with the worlds elite. A man worth over $100 million, has an ego the size of a Point Piper mansion, and a graduate of the Goldman Sachs school of corporate greed and capitalism. The Goldman Sachs puppet will continue to drive our nation further into debt because for each dollar that we are in debt it benefits the JP Morgans, Goldman's, Rothschilds and Rockafella's. They loan the West the money and make trillions off the interest. The western world is being ruined due to the manipulation and greed. Presidents and Prime Ministers do as they are told from above.

Come the revolution, brothers …

Amen to that...

Hamish Krint said...

If the revolution ever does come, we are all rooted, unless we have a veggie patch and a cow in the back yard. Maybe brew our own grog, get lots of solar power, and have a pushbike with plenty of spare tyres.
Any other tips? Start planning.....

Alison Alloway said...

That is exactly how I see it all ending Hamish Krint. The world will be ruled by corporate oligarchs, and there won't be any national governments such as we know it today. Our national sovereignity has already been steadily undermined with globalism and free trade agreements. All public institutions providing welfare, health, education, roads, police etc will be abolished. They are already being steadily whittled away. The uber rich oligarchs will all live in well secured separate communities, usually in the very best locations of individual countries. "gated" communities have already started. These uber rich communities will have their own schools, universities, hospitals, airports and ports for their own use. Theirs will be a life of every conceivable luxury much like the feudal Lords of medieval times.

For the rest of us, we will have to move from cities which will disintegrate with the loss of police, hospitals, water supplies etc Many people will die during this period and cities may well have to be burned and obliterated.
The survivors will have to become subsistence peasants, living on the land and growing their own food in which to survive. Theirs will be a slaves life, where microchipped at birth, they will "belong" to individual Feudal Lords and made to do whatever the Feudal Lord wants.
The uber wealthy will use these people worse than they would animals, and there will be no human rights. Any attempt to rebel will be quashed ruthlessly. These "sub humans" will be used as unpaid domestics, concubines, sex slaves, spare body parts in surgery, bodies for medical experimentation, security guards and to provide fodder for sport and armies.
Thus, the world will have regressed, back through centuries of social and political development to a brutish, born again medieval era.
