|CR. RICK TAYLOR AND WIFE TRACEY|
IN HAPPIER TIMES
Recent turmoil in the Cassowary Coast Regional Council has highlighted the ineffectiveness of rules designed to ensure the ratepayers are being appropriately represented.
For almost a year, the Council there has been aware of immoral acts being conducted by Deputy Mayor and Division 2 councilor Rick Taylor, a resident of Mission Beach. Taylor, married to Tracey Taylor with four children, was revealed to have been using the dating application “Grindr”, the gay-sex equivalent of the sex-hookup app Tinder. Complaints to the Council CEO included photos of an apparently naked Cr. Taylor, along with emails documenting the torment and “dark place” quite often inhabited by closeted gay men, apparently penned by Taylor.
Council CEO John Gott rejected the complaint against the councillor claiming only that it was “outside policy” for council to investigate.
When Campbell Newman and his LNP thugs were elected to run Queensland, they gutted all the ethics rules that previously had been in place, and the current Premier Palaszczuk has refused to restore them. It was these basically ineffectual councillor rules that ultimately caused the break from the ALP by current Member for Cairns Pyne. And with these now ineffectual rules, the Cairns (un)Regional Council has run amok with ratepayer money - up to $7Millions squandered on computer systems that STILL don’t work, with the principal culprit, former CEO Peter Tabulo, allowed to resign without any investigation. Documents held by Council have been systematically withheld from investigators including Hillbilly Watch as well as the ComPost.
There has also been a complaint made to the Cairns Council’s CEO about “improprieties” by a councillor and current development projects, where services contracted have not been declared as a Conflict of Interest.

"WINK AND NOD" DEAL TO PROVIDE DESIGN SERVICES
TO GA GROUP PROJECTS IN CAIRNS?
We sympathise with Cr. Taylor. We’re aware of the family problems created when closeted gays marry - and have second thoughts later. Areas of Far North Queensland and Leichhardt are filled with such stories, even in these more-open times we live in. “Acting out” by trolling for other young men, transexuals, and others by our elected officials can’t be condoned by the public. When personal issues cross over into the public domain, these elected officials need to go.
Cr. Taylor, who resigned as Deputy Mayor but still retains his councillor seat, has stripped all his social media profiles of virtually everything. It would be best for the ratepayers in Mission Beach for him to resign.
It is our view that under the current "anything goes" rules regulating Queensland local councillors, nothing is likely to be done by the way of investigation about the misdeeds at Cairns Council, either. This includes the bankruptcy and "trading while insolvent" actions of the Mayor.
