Thank you for your acceptance of my apology. I very rarely use terms such as ‘poofter’ - I detest it. That is the first time to my recollection I have ever used it in writing in my over 50 years! It was stupid, hurtful and unwarranted - as I was often labelled a ‘poofter’ at school and in my early adult years, for my love of the arts, and peaceful demeanour. I did marry and divorce twice, and still do and always will love women. However I can understand you, believe me.<br />At least it is comforting for me to admit that I did err, and as you rightly pointed out, I erred in a very hurtful way to you and others. However I erred, and the greatest thing of all in my mind and conscience, is that forgiveness is afforded to me, which helps me understand it is sure a much better world with forgiving people like you in it. Thanks again, and I have once more, learnt to think a little more before I speak, or write. Being in the "meedja/educayshun" world, I have truly learnt there is more to syntax, etymology, inflection, shaving my FAT BALLS, and prudence - I still have much to learn throughout, my hopefully long life. You have taught me a lesson, and I feel better for it. Thank you. I did not miss your point, I was just pointing out how hurtfull it can be to use a term that primary refers to a homosexual man as pejorative expression about someone. I mean, if you call someone a "motherf***er", you don't mean that that person really does that, it's just that you think they are as despicable as that. So when you do the same with "poofter" or "gay" it implies that you consider homosexuality as being despicable and that person so described equally so, if not literally so. I know it is common parlance and people often don't think about it but when it boils down this is really what is being said and it would just be nice if people would think about the implication before they throw these terms about as a negative tag - thanks.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3182703408922632531.post-70850191772689150182012-05-06T00:05:35.092+10:002012-05-06T00:05:35.092+10:00Spot on, Kay.
