Next, the LNP will "train" the new lot of coppers, the 1,100 rookies coming in over four years to be pretty fucken different from the "old" coppers. I reckon here we go for the first lot of the LNP's "brown shirts" being instructed that they are the enforcement wing of the LNP. It sounds much better than letting people know that one fifth of the total staffing of Queensland Police are getting the boot up their arse. As for putting more coppers on the beat, well putting on 1,100 rookies over a four year period isn't going to do much is it? Newman said at the start that 25,000 had to go and because of a huge backlash after 5,000 staff lost their jobs in Aug/Sept 2012, mainly health staff, he eased off for awhile. In the Cairns Post, recently, the CEO of Cairns and Hinterland Hospital Board announced that $13 mill had to go from the 2012/2013 budget, and rumour has it that by March at least 130 jobs here in Cairns and surrounds will be gone - most likely starting with Community Health. The CEO also stated that in the 2013/2014 budget, another $7 million dollars had to be saved. A total of $21 million from the Cairns and Hinterland Health budget in the next 12 months.

The writing is on the wall.

Make no mistake, all government departments are in the firing line and the job losses to Cairns will be huge.

The big problem with Hospital Boards is that their focus and only focus is on inputs/outputs at the hospitals. They do not care about aged care, preventative health, dental health, community health. With over 12,000 people in the Cairns region waiting to see a specialist, let alone have treatment, one can only surmise that Cairns health consumers are going to have to go without or pay up.

Good Luck everyone!Jan from Kewarranoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3182703408922632531.post-37920071598053500782013-01-08T08:10:05.168+10:002013-01-08T08:10:05.168+10:00

Bearing in mind the Police Minister says that 1,100 new recruits are going to be sworn in over the next four years, why are they tossing out so many senior police?
